WOW, the other thread was huge...and it dated back to Feb.

If it's ok, I'll start a new one for the 2nd half of the year.

Well, I just found out that I've been accepted into the RN nursing program. I'm super excited. This is something that will change our family forever (for the better $$ wise). It's a two year program, then I'll take my board exams and be a RN.

This is perfect timing for us. My youngest will be starting K in the fall. My oldest 4th. Their school starts two weeks prior to mine so that gives me a couple of weeks to get to know their teachers, their new routine, etc.

I'll be in school the same time as the boys. This is fantastic. I'll still have to work with my clinical hours but my mom can watch them if the need arrises.

So, student mamas, where are you on your education journey? What are you majoring in and how old are your babies?

oh, wow, Suzie! Congratulations! You're going to be a busy mama!

I'm still trying to finish my undergrad degree- I got pregnant and was due the semester I was supposed to graduate. I've taken a year off, and I'm going back in the Fall; I'll graduate in the Spring. My major is Fine Art, and a minor in creative writing.

My DH is also in school, but we've tried to get schedules where we aren't in class at the same time- we'll see how it works out with DS. He's nine months right now, so he'll be a year by the time school starts up.

It's nice to be in touch with mamas who are in the same situation! Sometimes it's hard because I don't know many who are struggling with the same life situation, KWIM?

I am so happy to talk to other student mamas!

I am finishing my 4th year of law school (part time). I only have 16 hours to go. So next summer is the Bar! I also work as a legal intern for the local DA 2 days a week and as a research assistant in International law for one of my profs. I had dd the summer between 2nd and 3rd year.

It is so isolating being so busy, I love MDC to be able to hear other thoughts and ideas about parenting that are child centered and not focused on how to make your life easier at the expense of your child.

My grades from last year will be posted on Monday. I am a little worried how I fared with the crazy year we had - Ill let you know!

Heres to doing all we can to make a good life for our families!

hey hey!! i'm currently in school for prereq's for a bachelor's of nursing program. i have a ba already (in english writing), but now plan on ultimately becoming a cnm. i have 1 dd, who is currently 6 mo.
right now i'm taking 2 classes online (physics and nutrition) and one on campus. i should be done with all my prereq's by next summer and start nursing school fall of 2005 (if i'm accepted, of course!

).

Hi, I am in the BSN program, and have just finished almost 8 months of hellish clinicals. I just started my first 400 level class, have written two papers (in apa format!) and am finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am already a practicing nurse, i work in an ER, and it has been incredibly difficult to deal with clinicals when i have already "been there, done that".

Still i am a bit proud of the fact that i have done so much already, the clinicals, the papers, the exams, plus i have three busy kids, a 5 bedroom house and a demanding stressful job in a busy ER and managed to keep my GPA a 3.9! yeah! and i volunteered at my son's school last year doing everything from crossing guard, to playground monitor to field day!

Hey everyone! Hope you're all well!

Well, the thesis is now officially halfway done. I just finished the methodology chapter, which I'd intended to leave for the end, but it seemed like a good way to put off writing the real meaty stuff! To the poster who said she's proud of accomplishing so much...ITA. Some days I feel like I'm just making myself crazy, but then I look at all I'm managing to do...and doing it well...and I'm proud of myself.

BUT - the draft of the entire thesis is due to my committee in just 59 days, so I'd better not feel *too* proud until I get some more work done!

wow lots of health field students here! Me too- back to school as of last semester completing my BS in Maternal and Child Health. B4 birthwork and health, I was majoring in political Science so now it feels like I am starting over. Oh well!

I did 9 credits last semester to warm me up, and I am in for 15 this next one ( start July) I am doing mostly a distance learning and am SO thankful for distance learning since I work in my field already and have 2 little ones ( 1 in school, 1 not)

I am finishing up my prereqs for the nursing program. My ultimate goal is to be a midwife but first I need to get into and complete the nursing program. I hope to begin the RN program this spring if I get accepted. Very long waiting list at my school but I am coming up on 2 years on the list and that is about the average wait.

Glad to see other mamas trying to juggle so many things. I didn't go to school this summer and am having such a great time chilling out and not thinking. The first week was a little rough though. I forgot what it was like to not have anything to do. LOL!

Hi everyone! I was just offered a full ride and TA position for graduate school (English Literature). I am really excited. I will be starting in the fall, but I long ago began worrying about where my son will be during the day and so on. Hopefully I can find an AP-minded care provider or SOMETHING or someone great. Sigh.

WOW, I am so impressed at the mamas on this thread!!!!! You all have accomplished so much. I'm very inspired.

I can't wait to go back to school. I start Aug 30th. I'm thrilled that my littles ones start two weeks prior. This will give me ample time to accomplish some things around the house.

hey all. I go back to medical school on Monday (just 3 days... aaaargh). I took a year off to have my ds, dante. I'm so worried about starting rotations (every day, from 5:30am until 7:30PM... 14 hours - except every 4th night, when I have to work through the night on call...). Dante's almost 10 months old, and I've been with him 24/7 until now. He currently nurses every 2-3 hours or so. Eeeep, I'm just so anxious. I guess I'm just looking for some support.

I'm 1/2 done with my assoicates in nursing. I go back in January when my next semester runs. i cna't wait but tat the same time I'm going to miss my DD soooo much but I know it's for the better.
I have 3 semesters left and then I'd like to do a home study for my BS and then on to a midwifery distance learning program, cross my fingers!
So much to do.......

Well, I just got my grades and rank for last year. I went from a solid B+ before being pg to barely a B now. This made the difference between being in the top 10% of the class and the top 1/3rd. I couldn't bring it up

Finals last year when 7 months pg just killed my GPA. And going back with a 3 week old this year was so hard.

I have a month before my 4th and FINAL year!!!!!!

I think I hit a point somewhere in October when I just closed the books and picked up my baby instead of studying an extra 3 hours. I know it was the right thing to do - dd is amazing - full of love and fun and energy. And we are still nursing!!!

But a part of me feels like a failure - I know I could have done better and chose not to.

It's hard being an overachiever (I know, I'm one also). You didn't do bad with your grades. Just chose another area to devote yourself to.

Will your rank affect you in any way or is it more personal? For me, it was pretty personal. I enjoy getting straight A's. But during finals last year I had a sick kid. I chose to take care of him first and study second. I missed an A in physiology by .5 %. Oh, well. My children come first. Always.
