I need help/advice regarding stuffed nose in babies!!

dd is 8 weeks, and she gets a stuffed nose every few days, even though I refrain from nursing her lying down. It's so bad she cannot nurse, and seems to have great difficulty breathing. I have had to use the suction syringe to suck out some mucus from her. Usu it takes several times and a large blob of greeny mucus comes out.
How does this happen? How can I prevent it? Any ideas??

my almost 2 week old has a lot of congestion too, and it's got me worried. last night she was having a hard time eating too. i looked at dr. sear's baby book and it said to buy some baby saline nose drops, or make your own (which is what we did) by using a little bit of salt (no more than 1/4 teaspoon, i think) in 8oz warmish tap water. Put a few drops with a dropper in each nostril, then lay her down to where her head is lower than her body...this will get the snot loose, and then you can use your suction bulb to suck it out. I also tried putting her in the bathroom, turning the shower on hot and closing the door, hoping some steam would help. All 3 of these together helped a lot, but didn't cure it.

Let me know what works for you...I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of the same stuff, permanately.

Mamaley, hugs to you!! I know it's hard!!!

I don't use th saline thing, somehow it feels harsh, but I've tried breastmilk, my German SIL taught me that. It's kind of tricky squirting from your nipple (lol) but worth a try!

I hope someone wld have some good ideas for us soon!!
