I found this recipie for Orange Chicken Slowcooker style. The ingredients are as follows:

1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
12 fluid ounces orange-flavored carbonated beverage
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 cup uncooked long grain white rice
2 cups water

Now my question:

What could I use as a substitute for the carbonated orange flavored beverage. It seems like an overall healthy recipie except for that.

I don't know why you could not use OJ....or make OJ plus seltzer water.
What about orange juice? Orange peel? OJ concentrate? I don't know what the difference would be as far as oj being non-carbonated. Or how the oj would do in the slow cooker.

It does sound like a good recipe, so I'm going to see what other people have to say.
orange marmalade - it would add color, sweetness, and texture. I'd think the OJ might be a little acidic maybe.
I have a really similar recipe that just uses OJ concentrate mixed with half the usual water.
