Not really. I think up north or in the mountains it does. It is pretty humid here during the summer though.

It doesn't snow there? Forgive my ignorance, but I thought almost everywhere "up north" got snow.<br><br>
I'm from Georgia. We see a flurry and school is cancelled. No one except folks that work at the hospital leave their house. This one time, in seventh grade, they made us go back to school when there was still snow ON THE GROUND (admitted, it was in the shady areas, on the grass, and just a wee bit). But still. There was snow. By george, we should have been at home. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"><br><br>
I'm still thinking it would be too cold to live there. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

You can great some great buys when you buy "as is." We bought a house in CO in '88 "as is" at 36,500. Sold it in 1992 for $65,900. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"><br><br>
We made some minor cosmetic updates and did a little landscaping, but really no major improvements.<br><br>
The house the OP showed us is very cute! I don't know the MO market at all, but putting in a heating system doesn't necessarily have to be all that expensive or difficult. If the homeowner put in the ductwork herself, a forced air system could be likely be put in for under $10,000. It looks to be a single story home and not much square footage, so a very large system shouldn't be needed.

It has heating, ya'll do know fireplaces do heat up homes<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> I wouldn't think twice about taking a home with only a fireplace for heat but then I love fire places and I grew up spending time at my dads and that was the only source of heat. He moved to MO about 15 years ago and moved from a fire place to a pot belly stove and he still stays toasty warm all night<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">

Hmmm....seems that all entry level houses in our area are sold as-is. "Entry level" is more like $600,000-$800,000 here though!<br><br>
How about <a href="http://www.caroljones.com/Listing/ListingDetail.aspx?Search=46e3ad51-1411-4915-aa8a-ec025c0e2624&Listing=12576972&Image=1&First=34&Last=44&pagesize=10&Sort=1" target="_blank">this one?</a>

It snows very little and melts fast, I don't consider a few snow days every winter as "snowing" KWIM?<br><br><div style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px;">

Gotcha.<br><br>
This is one of those things where I would be very suprised the first winter I lived there. Any white stuff (it did flurry here last year; it made the front page <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> ), ANY of it, is considered a major snowstorm.<br><br>
Of course it melts by lunch time....that's what snow does, didn't ya know? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

Same here! I guess that's why I'm so skeptical of a home that seems so inexpensive to me. This is a typical middle class home in our neighborhood: <a href="http://homes.realtor.com/search/listingdetail.aspx?zp=91307&bd=4&bth=2&typ=1&sid=94153e2c4fa142069a753f53ca4d2947&pg=1&lid=1079393252&lsn=10&srcnt=147#Detail" target="_blank">http://homes.realtor.com/search/list...cnt=147#Detail</a>
