Ok, I need some advice (and sadly I don't do online charting). I have been charting for the most part of a year now, and I have a pretty predictable cycle most months. I have a 3 day period with maybe 2 more days of spotting, then I ovulate on day 15 and go on to complete a 29 day cycle. I have avoided pregnancy successfully - great!

BUT, now that we are trying, nothing is going normal. I had my standard 3 day period at the beginning of this cycle, and I'm on day 20 now with still no increase in temps. We keep dtd every other day, and I go to sleep expecting my temps to be up, indicating I have ovulated, but same low numbers day after day! Argh!

Why after all these months, would this first month we are trying to conceive be so weird temp wise??? My husband has to leave and go out of town on Tuesday morning! We want to get pregnant this month! Does anyone have any insight or similar experiences to share? TIA!

Stress can delay O. Maybe you've got yourself so hyped up for this month that it's coming late? Just keep up with every other day and you should be covered.

sigh....isn't this always the way?

i was the queen of absolutely regular cycles until the month we started ttc. in my case, it was a totally unrelated illness that caused all the chaos. in YOUR case, i'd say it could be any number of things, stress/anticipation being one.

my only real piece of advice is to let go of the "we really want to get pregnant this month!" stress. believe me, i KNOW that feeling, but the more you stress about it not happening, the more your body will react. do your best to stay positive and hopeful without psyching yourself out.

Hi newmom80!

I can attest. Seems like my cycle was pretty regular up until the time we decided to TTC. Now looking back, it's like I've had the most confusing cycles since that time.

To make matters worse, one month I kept registering 96.3 for five days straight on my non-Basil Body Thermometer! I made my husband test it, and it worked for him fine! Still, I went out and bought a new thermometer, a BBT, and still registered low temps - blah! Turns out that was the month I had a 43-day cycle.

Definitely agree with mosesface on letting go of the urgency. At first my DH and I were thinking, "We shouldn't get pregnant [this] month, because that means our child will be born [this] month, and that's not a good month." Now well just be thankful if we have a child - whenever!

Good luck to you! Keep us posted.

Actually the day I made my original post must have been the day I was finalllly ovulating because the next morning my temp was up! Now for the countdown....

I know that for all this work I need to be calm and relaxed... blah, blah, blah
But, I'm apparently too uptight for that! We'll see what happens!
