Hi all!

I migth be going back to work sooner than expected and will plan to bottle my breastmilk. What are some good bottles that you can recommend? I have not bought one since I am home all the time and breastfeed on demand. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks.

Gerber NUK! The nipples are designed to closest match the shape of your nipple in their mouth and it has a separate valve for air flow away from the tip of the nipple to reduce gas. Plus they are affordable.
I use and really like the playtex natural latch, they had such a wide base I knew I could encourage a good latch with those, we never had any latching issues period though! I also am rather large busted, so they seemed more like my nipples to me!
We use Avent. I have ep since dd was born and she has done well with them.
We use Playtex as well, but are going to get a Medela Haberman for Ilana I think to help her sucking strength.
I asked about bottles in another thread because I didn't know which ones to get.

It turns out, most of the major brands, Avent, Dr. Browns, Playtex, Gerber, and more, are potentially harmful because they can leech BPA into the milk.

The only ones I found, in my research, that are safe are Born Free and Medela.
I love Avent too... will use them for the next couple of babies as well..
We spent $50 on fancy bottles and nipples. Turns out, after weeks of battling, the one she takes is the cheapo standard rubber gerber nipple.
Take a look at the Breastflow system by the First Years. It saved our butt when DD started drinking more during the day than I was pumping. According to Kellymom.com, the most common cause of this is that the baby is being overfed via bottle, and she gives many solutions/suggestions, but the biggest thing for us was the fast flow of regular bottles. With regular bottles, the baby cannot help but drink when it is tipped over and in her mouth. She has to swallow to keep from choking on it. With the Breastflow, she has to actually SUCK to get the milk, just like at the breast. It also slows down the intake more like the breast. It saved my breastfeeding relationship with DD!! I highly recommend it! (But even if you don't go with it now, PLEASE keep this in mind if/when your babe starts drinking more than you pump!!!)

we liked avent and playtex nursers.

we tried the breast bottle thinking since its shaped like a breast and designed to feel like a breast and feed like a breast but he hated it!
We use Born Free (no estrogenic compounds/leaching).
Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Last night I bought a pack of Dr. Brown's Natural Flow bottles and my DD does not seem to like them. She takes the bottle for a minute and immiediately starts to cough and choke on the nipple.
I hope she takes one she likes soon because I cannot afford to buy different kinds of bottles.

Perhaps she is still too young for a bottle? She is going to be 5 weeks on Tuesday and I dont want her to get nipple confusion or anything especially since I had to wean her off the formula and bottle that first week out of the hospital.

So my search continues....

We used avent until recently when i became nervous about using plastic bottles. We have now switched to born free:

They are a great alternative and my dd has had no problem transitioning. They are also suppose to be the best out there for digestion/air/etc (so they claim).
I had my husband give my son one bottle per day starting at three weeks because I had to go back to work and school when he was just four weeks old. We never had any problems with nipple confusion. We started out with the Avent bottles, but he didn't like them, so we switched to Playtex VentAire with the natural latch nipples. He takes them fairly well, but still struggles because he prefers his mama. My mom has a couple of Gerber Nuk bottles for him and he seems to do okay with those as well.

I found them a bit expensive, so I switched to Medela instead. Both Medela and Born Free are free from BPA.
