Hi.

I really want to send my oldest son to a sleep away overnight camp this summer. I think he would thrive with a bunch of peers for two weeks, but I'm also afraid that he's not ready and not sure which camp would be the right one for him. Your advice?

I'm thinking more like daycamp. I see a sleep away camp ending early and you having to go get him. The feeling is pretty strong. However, I do think you are right on the money overall about having him attend camp. I do think he would love it in the right setting. I'm not so much seeing big nature camps. I keep hearing math camp actually. I don't even know if there is such a thing. But he would do well being around peers. One's that are good at heart and pure. I say that b/c, well it's coming to me, but also b/c I get the sense that your son is a little niave and extremely sweet himself. I would hate for his innocence to be destroyed by some rambunctious tweens at a rowdy camp. These are the visions I'm having right now, which is strange b/c I went to camp and none were like that and I love them. But I did go to a "good at heart" camp..it was girlscouts.
So that's the kind of thing I'm talking about for your son.
Good luck with your decision, I can't wait for my kids to be able to go to camp, I loved it!

*Please remember that all questions are answered here on the forum only. I do not accept private pm's for more information on your question.*
