We're doing SFG, and a few of my squares of spinach have bolted, so I need to plant something else there.

What's good to plant this late in the season? We're in Massachusetts. I already have squash (3 types), peas, beans, cucumbers, onions, garlic, broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots.

I need something that grows relatively low to the ground.

Thanks!

let's see... a hot weather crop like watermelon or okra? or you could get some chili or pepper transplants.

or, a heat-resistant kind of lettuce, since that grows really fast.

kale, swiss chard and collards don't mind the heat, and they can be eaten as babies if it gets too cold before they're fully mature. What about turnips? you can eat their greens as they grow and they'll do ok when it gets cool too.
