My son is only 8 months, so I'm with you on the sunhat hunt. I've seen some great ones (with a chin strap, SPF material) at <a href="http://www.onestepahead.com" target="_blank">One Step Ahead</a>. They are a little pricey, but I am guessing that they'll fit all summer and maybe next year, too. It is worth it to me to be protecting their sensitive, partially hairless skin.<br><br>
On a side note, could I get your birthday cake recipe. I attended a 1-yr old birthday 2 weeks ago and was shocked by the icky, sugary cake that was served. It reminded me that not all people do things like we do. Your cake just looked so yummy. I'll have to nix the raisins (maybe I'll dry some apples or blueberries instead) since my DH and MIL can't stand them. They sure are missing out!<br><br>

I bought <a href="http://www.comfykid.com/cgi-bin/ck-shop.cgi?func=show_style&style_code=FHFLOPMF" target="_blank">this sun hat</a> by Flap Happy at a local children's store. My dd loves to wear it, and she looks so cute in it. The brim is quite wide, so it really does a good job keeping the sun off her face and neck. It's 100% cotton, machine washable, and made in the US. There are <a href="http://www.comfykid.com/Flaphappy-main.htm" target="_blank">lots of other prints</a> availabe too.

We just bought one very similar to <a href="http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=5377369" target="_blank">this one</a> at Etsy. The actual hat we ordered disappeared off the site because it was one of a kind but it's this same style with a solid khaki on one side and a retro cowboy print on the other.<br><br>

We have a really cute one from Gymboree, with a wide brim- really important for my fair lad. I also picked up a basic khacki (sp?) Old Navy hat second hand. I like Gap and Old Navy brands for the basic stuff- I just usually find them in the resale shops/ thrift stores. Love those!

I've had the best luck with a little hat that looks just like this but had no tag in it. yep, it's wee wave. They have it in white, and I think some colors, too. We got one last summer and just got a bigger one for this summer. It's only like $5, too!

We have Wee Wave sunglasses for ds and were looking at the hats too, but ended up not getting them because they only had them in toddler sizes. It's difficult to find hats for those with tiny heads that aren't baby bonnets! I might just end up making him another one.

I actually found the WW Target hats too SMALL for ds's apparently giant head. Weird. The XL was quite tight on him. We now have the XL Flap Happy and it fits pretty well. I guess this just means try it on before you buy!

Another Wee Wave buyer here! And to the pp - maybe you could order the infant size online? I got one for my 6mo dd there...maybe the store was sold out?
I love the ones from Gymboree with a super wide brim and a velcro chin strap. They're some of the only ones that both have a chin strap and fit his enormous head. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"><br><br>
