Hey there!

My son has a couple of weird skin things happening... do either of these sound familiar to you?

1. His cheeks have some kind of eczema-like rash that is hardly noticeable unless his body temperature heats up (like from the sun or a bath). I suppose it could be allergy related, but I have no idea what could be the cause. He has this nowhere else on this body, and he never seems to be bothered by it unless he's been out in the heat for a little while. It's like rough red dots, about the width of a large pimple.

2. He gets pink very quickly when he's in the sun, but it isn't a burn. His skin returns to a normal color when he cools down. It just seems odd to me; it's like he isn't regulating the heat well or something.

I think our next step may be a pediatric dermatologist, but I thought I'd check here first to see if any of you have experience with this.

Thank you!

I would still check with a ped dermatologist... just wanted to say that I had some serious sun sensitivity similar to what you mentioned. I ended up having severe food sensitivities. My sun sensitivity cleared up when I cut out gluten. I think that my whole system was just so overloaded and sensitive ( skin issues as well... for me I felt like my overloaded liver was trying to detox through my skin.). My skin used to go lobster red when I would get hot, but doesn't at all now!
I hope it is something easy for you guys to deal with. Just thought that I would write a note to say that it IS possible.

I second the food sensitivities - a friend of mine has a son with the exact same condition. In his case, it is minor and the doctor said babies often grow out of it.

Do you happen to know what food it is/was?

I think she's still on an elimination diet but I will try to remember to ask!
