DH and both have two door cars and now we have a newborn. We used the sticky film on the side back windows and it's not great but I guess it does the job of blocking the sun. However, there's a lot of sun the comes in the back window. I've been looking around and I don't see anyone using a sunshade on the back window. I'm thinking it's not legal. What can I do to keep the sun and heat off DD? I live in Vegas so it gets real hot here. TIA!

I'm sure that some techs would say those aren't okay, but we drive a sedan (Crown Vic) and the sun shines directly on my RF toddler. We have a sun shade that fastens with suction cups and then also has small bottom clips that tuck behind the seat. It's made of flexible fabric, a mesh.

He does wear sunglasses now (recent development), but it still gets very hot and bright in the back seat.

Our seat was installed by the FD. They were more concerned about unsecured toys/bags than the shade.

What solved our problem was putting a floppy hat (think fishermans hat style) on DS... he flopped it off a few times, but when the sun got in his eyes and we put it back on he learned quick to leave it on.

I'm a tech and I sometimes use the mesh shades with suction cups. If you take it off and bang yourself in the head with it, does it hurt? If not, then I, as a parent, think it's fine to use. The problem is the roll-up shades with a metal rod in them. Those hurt!

Those roll up shades DO hurt. I've been smacked in the head with those after closing a car door more times than I care to admit. Never in my own car, either. Those were never even a consideration for me.

This shade doesn't hurt if i smack myself with it.
