ok so i pump for my 3mo so that dh can give him ebm at night while i am at work...until now all has been ok...my dh now is trying to get ds to sleep in baby bed at night when im not home as dh does not go to bed at regular times...when i am home baby sleeps from 8p-11p then wakes up nurses and goes to bed with my husband and i...since ds has been sleeping in bed he has been taking 4 bottles with dh so every 3 hours or so--about 24oz all together--but i only pump about 16-18oz during the night---would drinking mothers tea on my working nights help? i do not typically work more than 2 nights in a row. does it take longer than that to work? or fenugreek? my supply seems to be sufficient when im home and nursing.<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/winner.jpg" style="border:0px solid;" title="BFSymbol">

This is tough. I would do the Mother's Milk Tea 3 times a day and take the Fenugreek. However, I don't think anything will stimulate more milk better than nursing your baby more. Perhaps you could get baby to nurse more during the day so that your supply increases? My La Leche League book says that over time mothers are often able to pump less and less. That worries me as well, since I will be starting college courses again soon. Good luck.

I don't know how big your 3 mo old is, but 24oz overnight sounds like a lot of breast milk. I'm wondering if your husband could change his bottle feeding technique so that the baby only needs the 16-18oz that you're pumping. My LC has recommended that when bottle feeding the baby should sit as upright as possible and that the bottle nipple should be angled so that only the bottom half of the nipple is full. This way the baby has to work a little harder and gets the full sensation sooner.<br><br>
I know that there are also a number of tricks for increasing the amount of milk you get at each pumping - I have limited experience with pumping though so hopefully others will chime in here.

thanks again... i have encouraged my dh to try something other than a bottle to get ds back to sleep---i also asked him to only use as much ebm as he needed as often he was leaving 1-2 oz in a bottle -- you guys are the best<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/hug2.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Hug2">

Try oatmeal too..... Some women take Brewer's yeast, but I haven't tried it myself, so you'd want to ask someone how much etc.

My LC recommends going with herbal capsules to get a higher dose of herbs:<br>
3 capsules of fenugreek three times daily<br>
3 capsules of blessed thistle three times daily<br><br>
I also sometimes drink some dark beer for the brewer's yeast and hops which may also help. Or you could get those ingredients in an herb shop/Whole Foods!

ok so iv been eating oatmeal like a champ and drinking lots more water---*sigh of relief* my supply seems to be back where it was and dh is offering less ebm at night while im at work---I LOVE MDC<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/winner.jpg" style="border:0px solid;" title="BFSymbol">
