I would love to attend a nurse-in should the need arise in my area. What should non-nursing individuals do at a nurse in? I don't want to just sit around and gawk (unless advised by more experienced lactivists) but I also don't want to encroach upon the space of nursing mothers, who I believe should be the most powerful presence at such an event.

Well the non-nursing people I have seen at them come and hold signs stating either the purpose of the nurse-in in some way or just signs that say things like "breast is best."

This is a good question. I'm older now, so my nursing days are behind me. If I were to attend a nurse-in, I would probably hold up a sign that said, "Former nursing mother," or "I support nursing mothers," or something like that. It's around 6:00 A.M. now, and my brain isn't thinking of any clever slogans at the moment. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/dizzy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Dizzy">:

Maybe you could bring extra water bottles to hand out to the mothers or offer to play with or read to older children?
