Anyone feel like getting together w/the little ones? Or, do we havea group in town? Snowbirds are gone, office slowing up a bit, and water is warm enough at the water park to make a day of it.

Sorry, Sarasota is a little far for us. We live in Eastern Collier County. If you get down this way one day, let us know:).

Hi! We live in the Golden Gate Estates area. my DS is 34 months, and absolutely loves the new water park. They're free under 3 yo. He also loves the zoo and Vineyards community center. He's ok w/the beach. He's just not real fond of that water. We are renewing our zoo membership, since it is soooo reasonable for Collier Co residents. Welcome to Naples!

SOrry to take so long to get back to you . The last week has been nuts, and with my husband leaving on another business trip again so soon, it will be again. No, I do not belong to any groups. I have regular Moms I know from work, but most of them see the world differently than I do, so I would like to find like minded people in the area. I am a solitary Pagan, so no one there either. I was hoping to maybe start a smaller group of us crunchy Moms here, but seeing as I am always being called a hippie, it may prove to be a little harder than I thought!

You're pagan AND A HIPPY AND you are into NFL?!?!! I think I'm going to cry... out of happiness! Do you know how rare that kind of person is to find around here? Or atleast it seems that way to me. I'm new still so maybe I just didn't look hard enough. SO, would you be interested in getting together at a park or something next week or the week after. I am going away for a little while so I won't be available for a little while. But if you're interested, PM and we can figure something out.

Oh you two....I have two words for you..."drum circle".

MamaKye, there were hundreds (maybe millions ) of them there at the Earth Day festival drum circle.

I knew eventually someone would pop up and remind me of some things . I do not mind going to local Pagan events when they happen, but I will more than likely go to the ones in Ft. Lauderdale, as ours are only okay. Also, most Pagans here are Wiccans, which I never really was. We do not celebrate the 8 common Pagan holidays anymore, as our home is transforming itself to Roman Recon. I use the Goddess symbol, because I really like the way it looks. Sounding a little whiny, sorry, I do not mean to .

I grew up with NA family, so I do go to drumming circles locally, but they are for NAs only. However, I tend to spend more time at the water parks, zoos, science center in Ft. Myers, horseback riding, and the beach than attending Pagan events . Thank you thank you for letting the other Moms about those things I tend to forget about.:

Drum circle has been happening every Saturday in a pavilion at Cambier Park in downtown Naples. 6:30pm seems to be a good time to arrive. There is a playground right there, too, as well as a large grassy area and cement pathways, so plenty of fun stuff for children to keep busy with.

Thersa12, how old are your children? Mine are indeed intact but we're long out of the CD and BF, yet co-sleeping is still a common occurrence with our almost-6 year old (like the entire last week). I don't think these things are as rare as you make them out to be, but they are becoming less common as some of the crunchies move out of the area.

Mountainsun, I helped organize and run one of the big booths as the festival, if you have children, you probably stopped by.

I kind of lurk here, but I'm in Lee in Estero, but a hop, skip and a jump from Collier. Can't believe there are so many of you this close to me
We have an almost 3 year old boy, a newly turned 2 year old girl and a 7 1/2 month old boy. I grew up in Florida (Daytona area), but married an Air Force man, so we bounced around a bit and finally settled here when he retired a little over a year ago.
CD,Bf, co-sleeping,non-circing here too.

Well, Riversky, we probably did cross paths, did you camp? We met some great people, but it seems that everybody there lives in Naples! Which is cool, but I am surprised that more Ft Myers folks don't come out for that....we love Earth Day and truley look forward to it every year, as it is one of the only times that we feel truley at home while out and about

Hi! I am so glad I found this thread! We (my husband and 2 children) just moved here from Scranton,Pa and Rochester,NY before that. This is my 1ts post so please excuse any mistakes I may make. I am looking for a good pediatrician and general md for myself. Any suggestions? We are in Ft. Myers- near the islands. Also, if you all get together I would LOVE to join you. I have 2 boys- 2 yrs old and 4 yrs old. Thanks so much for any help!

Welcome to SW Florida.

We use MacKoul Pediatrics, they have offices in Bonita, Fort Myers and Cape Coral and I have been super happy with them. I primarily see Dr. Annette Mackoul for my kids. She's super sweet and I am super picky with pediatricians.

http://mackoulpediatrics.com

Im not sure that MacKoul is non-vax friendly, or natural minded, if that is a concern.

Friends have told me that Island Coast Pediatrics is tolerant of non-vaxers.

There arent many (if any) holitic or natural minded peds in the area, sorry to say.

I wouldnt touch Physicians Primary CaRE WITH A 10 FT POLL!

We see a FP (when in need) in Bonita Springs.

good luck!

Actually, I am very natural minded except I do selectively vaccinate, and when I say selectively, I have allowed almost no vaccines. I have really not been lectured or condemned. I went in with an educated stance and have been respected on almost all of my views.I actually met with her before I decided on her and presented my views beforehand to get reactions. I extended breastfeed, cloth diaper, don't circumcise, and I haven't ever felt pressured to conform to mainstream by her or her associates. The only thing that I DID felt a little beaten up on was Flouride supplements and starting solids with my little one. I heard good things about Island Coast too but it was Impossible to get an appointment in the near future
