I'm not in south FL, but I have researched trying to get it for my area, and apparently it's illegal to sell for human use in FL. So it may be hard to come by, but try this link, it may help you a little. http://www.realmilk.com/where2.html
Hey Nicole, I am pretty sure they have raw milk at Ada's
You know they are building a new one in North Naples, I think next year!

Hey Sarah,

Yeah, I heard about the new Ada's -I hope it ends up being closer to me. I hate driving around with all this traffic.

Ada's prices are skyhigh now too! I checked on a price of some steel cut oats and they where $2 more than on SANIBEL!!!!!!!!!!!! Man...My hubby already hates the prices of organic stuff I buy. We're on a REALLY tight budget lately and I've had to work an extra day a week lately due to property taxes. One less day with my son
But Most weeks I only work 3 days, so I still spend QT with him. Its not like I watch TV, we actually play together when I AM with him.

How's your baby coming? LOL You going to the birthing center? I can't even afford another babe yet! I'm ready now and we realized daycare would be over $1,000 a month with 2 babes!!!!!!!!!!! I'ts BS.

Food and Thought sells raw milk--and a full range of raw milk products--in Naples. Across from the Coastland Mall, in the Gateway Plaza (same plaza as TGI Fridays). Labeled "for pet consumption only" of course!

And that one is OK to drink?

Honestly-what should I give my DS after he's weaned (Not anytime soon! LOL) I give him water and BM only now. Does anyone not give any milk
Nicole - FWIW, I gave Gabe a small amt of soymilk starting at prob around
1 1/2 yrs - although he was/ is still nursing. I know some people have some qualms about soymilk though......a few months later he started drinking organic pasteurized milk, but we dont drink too much milk anyways! He also really liked yogurt from a young age and I thought that was a GREAT way to get some fat/ calcium into him when he cut down on the bm. But themajority of his essential nutrition came from bm

Have you considered goat's milk? I've never tried it, but I've heard it's more easily digested/less allergenic than cow's milk. I would also second the yogurt recommendation. Cassidy was never a big milk drinker (except for my milk, of course), but she loved yogurt as soon as we offered it to her. We would get plain, full-fat, organic yogurt and stir in a bit of natural fruit preserves. She got plenty of calcium that way and had the added benefit of all the good yogurt cultures! I really never worried about getting her to drink milk, but she also nursed until she was 4, so she was still getting bm everyday.

Yes, the "pet consumption only" is safe to drink....just must be labeled as such legally....although I would research it more carefully before giving it to a toddler (my babe is 5
)

Dd never drank milk as a toddler. Soymilk on rare occasions, but little to no cow milk. She ate a lot of plain, whole milk yogurt at that age (she could tolerate that, but not milk). And she drank water. Now, she drinks some cow milk. She can tolerate raw or low-pastuerized (also available at Food & Thought) much better than regular organic cow milk.

Yeah, I eat organic whole milk yougert now. They have it at Publix -and there stuff seems reasonably priced at least.

Organic milk products taste amazingly different! YUM!

And I have considered goats milk, I'm just questioning the whole ultra & pasturized milk thing now. In fact Im questioning milk in general. Thats why Im curious what everyones givin da babes.

Ho hum...im becomeing such a hippy my hubby says! (I'm thinking "becoming?-- where've you been?"LOL)

It sounds like you've found resources, but in case they don't work out:

Global Organics in Sarasota can get raw milk from Golden Fleece. I haven't gotten any yet, but maybe soon.

In the meantime we've done several different things to get the freshest milk possible, at least the healthiest.

Of course we did the most logical thing for those wanting raw milk- we got a milk goat. Then we had animal control called on us. Silly zoning laws.

Right now I am giving the children milk from Organic Valley- gallon sized. Free access. Very expensive. In the past I have restricted it to Saturday mornings only with their one box of cereal that is gone that same day.

I have also used organic milk and made kefir, fil mjolk (a kind of smooth yogurt) and creme fraiche (sour cream but tangy-er). That gives them the nutrition in the milk and spreads it out a little more since it's used with other foods such as muffins, scones, etc.

We are now beginning the process of building on acreage where the zoning allows us animals. We'll have a small herd of goats, maybe even a mini cow.

So I hope that helps!!

A "MINI-Cow"?!?!?! LOL

I really wanted a milk goat too, but hubby was like "Umm...you mean to tell me your going to milk that thing every 12 hours?"
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...no goat!

ExecutiveJellybean-Are you in SW FL? Where are you building? IYDMMA?
