I have only participated in one swap so far and really enjoyed it. I think the concept is *so* smart and frugal, and it builds community among mamas helping each other out

But I was wondering how you estimate value for packages? For example, if it's $20 per package, is that adding up the value you'd estimate the stuff would sell on the TP? When I've done trades in the past, we usually place the swap value at higher than the cash value. Often mamas will ask me what the retail is, so that we can figure out a fair trade.

But if I went by retail for a group swap pkg, $20 might not go very far, so I'm guessing that we're making estimates using the TP value. Is that right? What have you done? I just want to make sure my swap packages have enough stuff in 'em!

I haven't participated yet, but I was assuming it was a $20 swap value, as in what it would bring here on the TP. Maybe someone can clear it up for us! I am also assuming that it is for mostly gently used items, unless specified *new* or *stains okay* (or something like that)!

I assumed the same. I have only participated in one swap, but I figured everyone was going by the resale value of the items sent. I sent herbs to swapee so I counted them as new merchandise since they weren't used in anyway although I don't know how I'd have to price them to get them to move on the TP.

I was also unsure of how to value things. For the most part I also went by what I thought they would bring on the TP.

I was thinking it depended on condition: like if something is just like brand new, then retail. If it is good condition, then like consignment; if it is well worn, then like garage sale

I have been having a hard time with this swap. You know, I have 1 or 2 things from a lot of lists, but not enough to =$20. Bummer

Last time I sent brand new soaps. I counted it a littl less then I paid. This time I sent silk fairy wings that I made and counted it at what I normally charge for them- as they were brand new and homemade.
