Thought I'd love it, since I love the smell of basil. Uh...not so much.

But, I'm not wasting all the vinegar that I mixed it with, so I'm just cleaning with the windows wide open to air out the house

Yeah, the smell is super concentrated because it takes tons of any kind of plant just to make essential oils.

Certain ones, like rosemary, hike up blood pressure and can't be used by pregnant women or people with epilepsy. I'm not sure if basil has any ill effects, but just be cognizant of what you're buying and how much you're using. You can look up the name of any essential oil and most sites will tell you side effects.

Just because it's natural doesn't mean that it's always safe!

Oh, Gina, I know it. But the only EOs I've used in the past are lavendar and TTO, which don't affect me nearly as wickedly
Sweet Basil EO is also not recommended in pregnancy...but I'm not pregnant.

Anyway, two drops in a half a bottle of vinegar was more than enough for me.

That's so funny! I actually was going to buy a bunch of EOs online, but ended up going to a store just so I *could* smell them- good thing. Lemongrass is not a pleasant smell to me...

I agree w/the pp who mentioned lemongrass. I thought that sounded like such a nice smell so I ordered Ecos laundry detergent lemongrass scented. Boy will I be glad when that stuff is gone!! I'd feel to guilty not using it so now I add a little dribble to my baking soda. I think it'll take me a year to use the whole container.

Good thing to know about sweet basil. Thanks for the warning!
