After seeing my 16mo DD nursing, my 4yo nephew asked his mom if he could nurse with her.
:

It was so sweet considering that just the day before he had seen me nursing DD and asked what she was doing (he was partially breastfed for only a few weeks, his younger sister was never breastfed and judging by his questions he had never seen a mother and child breastfeeding) I explained that nursing means that babies get milk from their mother's breasts. He had a few other questions about how it worked and why she didn't have a bottle instead, (to which I gave clear LLL certified and approved answers
) he responded with a typical 4yo response of "Gross!" and walked away.

I was a little sad about how his mom and my brother responded to his request the next day (he was in a very sleepy, cuddly mood and they just sort of laughed it off as a weird moment), but at least it opened the door to some conversation.

Very bitter-sweet. Maybe you planted a seed so that he will encourage and support his future partner to nurse....maybe his sister too.
