Has anyone started to have ankle swelling yet?

Just here in the last week, I've noticed that if I'm up on my feet most of the day...I get just a tiny bit puffy in the evening.
I'm so scared! It's not even May yet...I don't even want to THINK about what I'm going to look like in August!!

soaking in water is great for swelling - as deep as you can get it in your tub, or if you have access to a pool even better. swimming is AWESOME for pregnant women.

walking is good too it gets the muscles in your legs contracting to bring fluid back up with the blood flow.

my feet swell a little if I'm on them all day. FIL has a pool so I'm planning on being at his house a LOT this summer. It's too bad they live 45+ minutes away. I told dh I was just going to take up residence there for a while, they'll never notice

I am with you. My last babe was a winter babe in MN so this is a whole new experience. It is getting warm here and it is not helping the swelling. I was on a few flights last week and it is even more uncomfortable while on airplanes. Does anyone know if diet or foods play a role? I imagine salt is bad, but any other suggestions?

Actually, don't cut the salt! Restricting salt during pregnancy can make the swelling worse since it throws your body further out of whack.

When I had extreme swelling with dd1 my care providers suggested salt/season to taste, drink plenty of water (limiting fluids can also worsen swelling), sleeping with the bed slightly tipped/on my left side as much as possible, putting my feet up as well as doing gentle exercise (walking, swimming, wrist/ankle turns) to move the fluid around, and wearing support hose.

I also drink a little unsweetened cranberry juice in my water. 28oz water +4oz of unsweetened cranberry juice. Must be the unsweetened kind, not cranberry juice cocktail
It is a natural diuretic. Not stressful to you or baby. Helps bring down the swelling. I've been having pitted edema in my legs since 13 weeks. I had it with my daughter, but it didn't start until about 6 months. I've brought it up with my doc, and there is nothing wrong with me just trouble flushing out/circulating all the extra fluid in my body. The cranberry juice just give me a little shove. I'm a graphic designer, so I sit at my computer all day. By the end of the day, my legs are like stuffed sausages. I have the compression socks, but I swell regardless. I find if I try to move around more, put my feet up, drink lots of fluids and the cranberry juice, exercise...it all helps.

Where do I buy the unsweetened cranberry juice? Will Sprouts have it?
