ARGH! Ok, why doesn't anyone make swimsuits for babies younger than 6 months old?!?! Do they think that babies younger than 6 months don't swim??? This is my rant for the day!

How about just putting baby in a swim diaper only?
a good friend of mine sent my dd a bikini for size 3mos, this was when she was born. it's from gymboree. she looked so cute in it.

as for my boys i just used the swimming diapers. and for my dd, i was able to find nondisposable swimming diapers (never had anyone complain about those).
I found cloth swim diapers at Target for ds 2 years ago and last year. I know they had ones for 0-6 months, plus they had ones with tops for girls! maybe they will have them again this year.
aw geez, I thought you were going to post about something *truly* aggravating... MATERNITY swimsuits. gah!

Yeah, me too.
I don't know. We lived in Florida when the first 2 were born and I had trouble finding them. I did find one at gymboree for my dds. This is my first summer baby and it's a boy. A swim diaper would probably work, but I doubt I'll take him in the pool this year. By the time I'll be ready, summer will be over.

Maternity swim suits are another issue..........
I saw the cloth swim diapers at Target the other day, as well as the bikini tops for little girls. I didn't check out the sizes since I was picking up a swim dipe for my DS.

As for maternity bathing suits, I like the one I got from OldNavy.com Swimming is great for my sciatica!

Oh I probably will, I just want her to be frilly so that everyone knows all the time that she is a girl!
I know, it's silly!!

I will have to go check out Target for sure. Ds needs a new swim diaper anyway. I have always gotten his at Babies R Us, but Target is right there by it, so I can check them both out. Thanks for the suggestion!

you big wah! Heehee!! I got a cute one at Motherhood and one of my friends sent me one from Old Navy. But then again, I am one of those Mamas that won't EVER be seen in a bikini, so a tankini works just fine for me!

A friend of mine got a nice one at landsend.com. Since I'm on the heavy side, I found a really nice 2 piece at a plus size site (it covers everything - but the bottoms are just a separate piece). I wonder how much I'll really need it though since I'm due at the beginning of July - we'll see I guess!
I have one of these girl swimdiapers for Adia. I'm having problems finding any retailers that have them in stock, though.

The Target swim diapers were sized REALLY small when I tried them with her as a newborn. (But she had chunky thighs, so that might've been part of the issue.)

I agree that the Target ones are very small. I was at Target today and our store was carrying them, shorts, bottoms, bikini tops and swim shirts for 5.99 each. The small was for 13-18 lbs, but we have a small and it would easily work for a 7 lb baby!
I almost got a small today, but those bottoms looked pretty big. My sil had a good idea though, go look for a doll swimsuit!
Like one for a cabbage patch doll or something. I'll either ask my mil to make one for baby girl, or she'll wear her purple swim diaper and a onesie.

Steph - I found some here - http://store.yahoo.com/perfectlysafe...imdiapers.html I just did a google search for kushies swimsuit swim diaper.

Thanks so much for showing those to me!!! I will be getting one NOW!

Another option (for the baby swim diaper that is!) that we used was a small-sized Bummis CD wrap/cover. I think I had one of their cotton-outer ones that wasn't all that great as a diaper cover, but worked fine as a swimsuit bottom.
As for the maternity swimsuit...I just *barely* was able to use my regular bikini in Hawaii last week (the top fit fine, but the front of the bottom would roll a bit!)...but I have heard good things about Old Navy's maternity suits. Motherhood's looked a bit frumpy and frou-frou (picture frilly waist and eyelet) for me!

Gymboree infant swimsuits run pretty small. I usually go for a just a "swim diaper".

If you plan on cloth diapering, you can always get a FuzziBunz and have it embroidered with something really girlie and just use it without any real filler for a swim diaper. Or any really cute fleece lined diaper cover will work.

Okay not to hijack the thread off of baby swimsuits BUT
... check out LandsEnds overstock section. They've got some two-piece and one-piece maternity swimsuits on clearance over there. And the two pieces are sold seperate so you can get that bigger bottom if you need it.

I bought a two-piece maternity swimsuit at Target when I was pregnant with DS#2 (two summers ago) and then promptly "lost" is somewhere in my closet. Of course it was at the end of the season and it was hard enough finding that one let alone another one. It really ticked me off and I didn't want to have to spend the money on another swimsuit when I KNEW it was somewhere in my closet.
I finally broke down and bought a one-piece swimsuit at Academy. Just a plain ole speedo one-piece. Fit great. I normally wore a 10-12 and I think I got a 16 (since I'd gained almost 75 pounds that pregnancy
. It worked great for those couple of months afterwards when I wasn't down to a fit into my other swimsuits yet. And of course about two weeks after I bought it... I found my maternity one.
