Thank God I read these comments I save me $100 and a trip to planned parenthood now back to condoms!!! Good luck ladies if ur tired of all the symptoms trust me you'll get it out like I did lol oh yea a helpful tip "just push as if giving birth once u get ahold of the strings!! Hope this helps!!!

I'm tired of the mood swings and phantom kicks not to mention the bad odour. I really want to take mine out but not having insurance means i have to pay and thats not an option now. I'm a bit reluctant about just "yanking" it out though.

It's really interesting to read all this. When I had my Paragard taken out by my family doctor it hurt like hell! It was sincerely awful. I can't even begin to imagine taking it out myself. I have a tilted uterus, so maybe that's why. I also think my doc is pretty inexperienced with IUDs (she referred me to an OB to get my new IUD put in). Kudos to you ladies who got your IUDs out yourselves. You're braver than I.

After reading these comments and after years of pain in my right ovary and cramps and wanting to go to the doctor to get my IUD removed but couldn't afford it I seen you could do it your self so I'd been having a sharp pain and looked up y and came across these posts and decided y not went to the restroom and boom it just came out and immediately the sharp pain stop how ? Y? Now I'm worried if its something more or if it was just the IUD the whole time

I’ve just removed my Mirena coil myself. It was surprisingly easy. Took a while to locate both strings but I pulled very slowly at the same time as bearing down a bit and it slid out easily. My womb sits at an acute angle so I was a little nervous but it was really painless. Just felt a tiny bit of tugging. No cramps or bleeding. I’m 54 and it had been in over 7 years. I had been trying to get it removed for 2 years but my doctor said there was a waiting list for 6 months. He kept telling me it was fine to leave it in for more than 5 years. I’m in the UK and it was free to have it put in and taken out. After 2 years of trying to get it removed was unsuccessful I thought I’d research it. The last reason the doctor gave me for refusing to remove it was that I might get pregnant. I thought it was odd as I’ve had a test to say I’ve been through the menopause. He said I could still get pregnant. I told him my partner had the snip 10 years ago. My doctor said I still might get pregnant. I wonder why it was so imperative I kept my Mirena coil in!
I have also suffered with chronic depression for over 6 years. Never had it before I had the coil fitted. I’ve also had brain fog, blurred vision and fatigue not to mention I put on 28 pounds in weight. I would never recommend anyone to have a Mirena coil.
