I ordered all of this fabric thinking I was going to make my DD's diapers when I started reading more about ECing and and decided to start very late with a 15 month old. So I figured the next best thing would be to make trainers instead of diapers.

I hope I am making the right decision. She is not even at the point of signalling or going on cue, but I put her in panties and pants at home and I need something that will hold one good pee. She does how ever go quite consistantly after naps and we are catching poops at a high rate. She seems to know the difference between diapers and panties because she will hold it in panties.

Any thought, opinions, or experiences to share? I hope I am doing the right thing.

I congratulate you on making the leap! I believe it's never too late... personally! I mean, most people have NO idea there IS such a thing as EC! I certainly didn't until DD and I were already DOing it without any education on the matter.

It sounds like your DD is already getting the idea since you can tell she holds it when she's in her panties. So, if I were you I would go full steam ahead! Of course, keeping in mind not to pressure and all that.

I got the pattern with the same intentions. My son is 5 months and still pees a million little pees a day--I figure it makes more sense to use trainers than bulkier diapers that take up more space in the wash.

I'll be curious to hear how the sewing/using goes for you.

So you haven't used it yet?

I'm hoping this will work out because she knows the difference between panites/trainers and diapers. If she is in diapers, she will pee little pees through out the day. If she is in panties, she will hold it and have one big pee. Still no signal, but I am starting to read some of her signs better. It just seems like trainers would be the way to go. My DCP is very willing to go along with all this and I'm hoping that when DD sees other kids use the potty she will "get it" a little bit more. Also I think I will get more use out of diapers, ETA: I mean trainers as she gets older than big ole huge diapers.

I hope that I actually get around to sewing as I'm heading back to work in two weeks and my time will be crunched!

The pattern just arrived in the mail today. We're getting our house ready to sell, so I might not try it for the next month or so.

I'm curious to see if the pattern is more underwear-like or diaper-like -- it seems to be right in the middle, so I wonder what direction your daughter will think. I'd love it if my son would hold pees longer--I think my catch rate would go up considerably if he wasn't still peeing every 10 minutes at times. It's great that your DCP will go along with it!
