A brief intro. I am 35 and ttc #2. It took us about 8 months to conceive ds (24m) and I charted. This time I am not charting but just going by cm and dates.

I have one test in the house and I can't stop thinking about it. It's like chocolate! I'm on cd28 of about 29, 11 or 12 dpo. I really hate seeing that bfn so I try not to test too soon. The problem is, I just took my temperature (at 8pm - not clever I know) and it was 98.6. When I charted before my cover temp was about 96.8 and my HIGHEST post o temp was 98.0. I know this means nothing. I took the temp at the wrong time, I have nothing to compare it to, I could be running a low grade fever. IT MEANS NOTHING!!!

Then why can't I stop thinking about it? Help me out. Please.

use the test in the morning if it's driving you that nuts, if af is due tomorrow and it's a sensitive test it's about 90% likely to give you accurate results... if not more.

Step away from the test. I TA with MP. If your that close to AF, it should be pretty accurate. Good luck!

You are what is known as an 'enabler'! The problem is, I find it easier to handle the arrival of AF than the sight of a single line. I don't WANT to test unless I know there's a good chance it will be + but I STILL keep trying to talk myself into it! I'll keep you posted.

Ok, so don't do it!!! Wait until it's just a confirmation of the obvious! You can do it!!!! I know how hard it is to wait.

Okay, if you really feel this way, DON'T do it now. THen you won't have it when you really want it, AFTER you've missed your period! Plus, temps are usually higher during the day, so your high temp could mean nothing. I do hope you're pregs anyway, but if you really don't want to see a single line, don't use the test *yet,* go buy some chocolate instead

C'mon. You can at least wait until morning, can't you?

I wouldn't test until I was officially late. I think with all my pregnancies save 1, I wasn't testing until I was sick as a dog and wanted an explanation for it..
(plus, peed on sticks make really great objects to throw at dp..)

Frankly I think poas requires some kind of balance I do not possess..

And guess what? Our ancestors did NOT poas.. they didn't. I don't think they (home tests) were around when my mom had me, and certainly not when my grandma had all 6 of hers, and not even when my MIL had her 6 either..

but I digress..

We are strong women, we must not give in to the weakness that surrounds the stick.. gather together women, we can DO this!

(was that good enough?)

Wow, someone needs to employ you as their speech writer! If I get tempted, I will just come back and read this thread...

Actually that is my dream job (after I retire from teaching).. but there are only CERTAIN individuals that I deem worthy of my talents.. so picking that ever so lucky political figure in my future would be a challenge.

But thanks!

This is what I'm trying to remember as I set my sights for "when I'll know." I'm going to try really hard to expect not to know until my body tells me, not a stick. And how do I have this self control? two things:

1) I haven't ovulated yet
2) I've had too many previous POAS heartbreaks
3) I've been at this for too long, and I'm jaded and tired
