Has anyone had any luck with them together?

I had a bunch of cheapo dollar-rack flannel from walmart (brown plaid of all things) that had been sitting in my fabric box since I made DS's diapers 4 years ago... It's not very cute, pretty thin, and fades fast, but I figured I ought to use it up anyway... So, I made a slightly-bigger than preemie-IPF-sized prefold with it (but more absorbant).

I wasn't expecting it to be snappi-able, figured I'd use it just laid in a wrap or whatever... but I snappied it on a stuffed bear and it worked! It seems like if you only had one outer layer of the stuff it might not hold well, but with multiple layers it seemed okay?

So I'm wondering, what is the issue, generally, with snappis and flannel? Does it normally not hook/stay on at all... does it wreck the fabric after a few uses? Maybe it only worked because this is cheapy flannel (and therefore, probably a looser weave than the good stuff?)

Every site I look at says snappi+flannel=bad, so I would love some advice from other diaper-makin' mamas before I sew up any more of these! Thanks!

I've never had any luck w/ snappis and flannel. I've tried walmart, joanns as well as some *really* nice flannel that I got at an upscale fabric store. maybe you just got lucky?

I could never get it to hook on and secure. So, it stands to reason that if you actually got the snappi to hook and hold, then it would be fine...otherwise, break out the diaper pins, there not so bad. To me, the snappi squishes the baby's tummy. I don't think it looks comfortable so I have not ever left a snappi on my son. It just looks like it is crushing his insides.. I didn't even stretch it that much but I don't know...I don't like it. But I digress.

Hi well i used snappies always with my other children, with terry squares though.
I did have a semi formed thought,as i picked up some IMSE VIMSE shaped pre fold second hand last week to sew a bit of terry in the three areas a snappi might be used!

I will let you know how this works out.
And yes,i think maybe after a bit of time the snappies may well ruin the flannel!

So you can use them on terry? Can you use them on kissaluvs contours? I made a bunch of contours out of terrycloth as well, can I use them on those? Does anyone have a list of fabrics that they work well with?

Thanks in advance ladies, you're great!
