I've read the idea recently in other threads around in MDC about potty training a toddler around 18 months old or so. Going to diaperless/underwear-free for a few weeks until they get the association of going to the potty. This idea intrigues me, and I'm thinking I may want to try it out with my 20-month-old. What can you tell me about it?

Do I explain anything before we get started? Would he go completely naked while training, or are there good training pants I would want to use, or underwear? What about when we go out of the house? What is the best way to handle the expected accidents? Is there any reason I *shouldn't* consider this idea? What would I expect at the end of the training, should he be able to tell me at some point that he needs to use a potty (I'm imagining shopping, and doing something like my 3.5 year old does: "Mommy, I need to go pee-pee!")?

Please tell me anything that comes to mind. Resources, personal stories, anything!

I moved this to Toddlers since EC is really for younger babies (though you can incorporate some of those aspect into your potty learning).

My suggestion is to add in potty small bits at a time. For dd we put her on the potty with a toy or book after each nursing or meal and after waking. Then over time we increased that.
