Just curious here. My oldest nursling is about to be three and the youngest is almost 15mos.<br><br>
With ds1, Aunt Flo came back around nine mos, with dd, around six mos but with ds2 (first time tandem nursing) he's almost 15mos and nothing.<br><br>
Plus, Im about to turn 37, though I think thats too young for menopause yet so Im assuming that eventually my cycles will return.<br><br>
I saw somewhere the other day someone posted they went 24mos. before resuming. Anyone else go that long? Is is probally from the tandem nursing? Obviously Im nursing a lot more than if I were only nursing one. Any thoughts would be appreciated.<br><br>
We would like to have one more and I ain't getting any younger BUT I don't want to wean either of these two until they are ready. Anyone with experiannce with this situation?

DD was 11.5 months when AF returned.<br><br>
DS was 25 and I had tandem nursed the first 18 months of that. I was also like 20 lbs lighter than I had been with DD.<br><br>
I have known someone IRL who went over 4 years (including pg) but she was not regular (and over 40).

I went about 18 months after DS1 before my first cycle - I had two cycles and was pregnant again. I thought because I was tandem nursing, I might go even longer without a cycle, but when DD was 18 months I had what was either a really wacky period or a very early miscarriage (I believe the latter) and then 6 weeks later I was pregnant. I'm not tandem nursing this time (both my older kids weaned during this pregnancy), so I wonder how long it will be. DS2 is 5 1/2 months, and I haven't seen any sign of it.

I went 22 months with dd. She was still nursing a couple times per day and once at night. Had one cycle then we went on a big trip and also both came down with a terrible stomach virus. She was nursing round-the-clock for a couple weeks. I figured all that was going to disrupt my newly returned cycles and wasn't surprised when I had no period the next month.<br><br>
The joke was on me- i was pregnant with ds!<br><br>
I wished I could have caught the first cycle, just to see the look on the OB's face when I said "Date of last menstrual cycle? Hmmm... August of 2002?" <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngtongue.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Stick Out Tongue">

That makes me feel better. He's almost 15mos. so maybe by the time he's two. At first I wasnt sure if or when I wanted the next one, because having two so close was really intense and very difficult in the beginning. But now that I've decided yes, I do want one more (dh never waivered on that one, but then he wasnt the one doing all the work!) Now that Im sure, now that Im ready to start planning it, I find I really can't because my body isnt ready and I guess thats ok, I have time, just not tons of time.<br><br>
After dd, it was three cycles before I concieved ds2, but one of those cycles was like two months long!! And the first two had really short luteal phases. Amazing how breastfeeding works like that!'<br><br>
LOL, I had the same thought about concieving on the first cycle, "when was the first day of your last period?" then you give them date thats over two years ago and they look at you like your crazy! I already get that when I go to the doctor now, I tell them "April of 2004". I went into the doc for back pain and they gave me a pregnancy test despite me telling them there was no way. I know. My mom keeps pointing out that you ovulate BEFORE you get af and I keep telling her that I know what fertile quality CM looks like thank you very much and I havent had any so the odds are really low. Not that Im trying to prevent, but thats a whole nother issue with my family.....

<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/biglaugh.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="laugh">: I got that all the time. I had dd2 in Sept of 03....and they would say "Date of last cycle?" and I just *loved* saying "August 2001!" it always made people stop and look. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

With ds my cycles started again when he was about 1 year. With dd she is 15 months and still no sign. And I'm not tandum nursing, ds selfweaned before I got pregnant with dd.<br><br>
This is something I brag about to my girlfriends with no kids. "I haven't had af in 2 years!"<br><br>
Anything that might get them nursing when they have their own.LOL

I am tandem nursing also. The older nursling is 3 1/2 and the younger is 26 months. I still haven't gotten Aunt Flo back. They both still nurse quite frequently day and night. So the nursing can hold it off for quite a long time. I don't mind since I am not trying to conceive though!

Got AF at 15.5 months PP with DS, and still not yet with DD. I hope it stays away at least as long again!
