Tandem nursing and weird periods.

Hi. I'm 41, my children are 3.5 and almost 2. They nurse more at night, but quite a bit during the day, too. Lately my periods are coming closer together (22-24 days a cycle rather than my normal 28/29) and they're lasting much longer. The first 2 days are heavy and then around 5 more days of spotting.

Anybody have a similar thing? Is my body trying to go through menopause, but can't because I'm still nursing?
