i'm reading In Praise of Slowness, and the author talks about how couples can apply tantric principles to their relationships as a whole to bring them closer together and more aware of each other's needs / wants / *lives*......<br><br>
so my question is: have you done this? how has Tantra helped your partnership? has it affected other parts of your lives?<br><br>
i'm *not* just talking about Tantric sex, but the entire idea of slowing down, really *looking* at your relationship as a whole, connecting with each other...... <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/confused.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Confused">:<br><br><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">

I don't know what tantra is.....I am very interested in that link and the book. However dh and I do find that sometimes we don't feel connected. With two very busy boys we sometimes are running all over the place. When we feel disconnected we make sure to take some time for ourselves, do things like play a game, do a puzzle watch a movie, not necessarily things that cost $$. We also try to sit with each other every night and chat about our days, what happened with the boys, what we forsee doing for the rest of the week and that sort of thing. IS that what you were asking?

go get a book about it, you won't regret it. TM and tantric yoga is great for relationships, but probably not appropriate to discuss here at mdc. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/shy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="innocent">

I don't how much I can say without killing this thread, but Tantra is so much deeper than sex. Dh and I started with it about 4 years ago. I pushed for it but once he saw what it was about and connecting on a soul level he was totally in. I even moved beyond my hangups about my weight and physical appearance afetr having babies. While dh has never complained about my weight, I still felt societies eyes on me. Somehow connecting through tantra made a world of difference for me. The Art of Tantric Sex by Anne Johnson and photographs by Salvatore was a wonderful book for us.

Thanks Yinsum I am going to look into that. Though my dh and I feel very connected, I too have hang ups about my weight, and after almost 11 years and 2 babies we could use a boost
