Help my soon to be 2 years old DD screams bloody murder when I go to pick her up! She loves it there! It's just her and the sitter's little girl and they are like 2 peas on a pod. She is there Mon-Fri for 3 hours/day. It's 2 houses away from us and I walked home last night with my daughter flailing in arms screaming the entire way back.<br><br>
Is there anyone that can suggest a peaceful exit plan??????

on the one hand this is great because you can feel comfortable that she is happy when you bring her there! my dd does this when we leave daycare sometimes, but she also does it when I drop her off! I think what you should do is have a plan for when you leave, a routine that you do the same each time. When you get there maybe play with her a little bit there, give her a few minute warning, and then go. It's easier said than done though! good luck.

I typically let her play for a bit and have her show me some things. I'm afraid though she doesn't get the "ok we need to leave in X amount of minutes". She just hears me say ok "it's time to get going now" and she throws herself to the ground! Poor thing. I figured she would enjoy being able to walk home. We have horses on the other side of us, maybe I'll make stopping by and saying hi to them part of the routine (hard to say in front of the other little girl though because she loves visiting the horses too! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> )<br><br>
Maybe tonight I'll show up with the bike & bike trailer, maybe she'll be interested in taking a ride.<br><br>
And I am really happy she enjoys being there so much, it is very reassuring for sure!<br><br>
It took 3 weeks for her not to have a meltdown after we started going there.<br>
Now they are outside when I go to pick her up and it's like starting all over again with the departure ritual. I know the sitter usually has them start picking up the toys about the time I arrive, so she does have other "cues" to help her know the time is coming to an end.
