I did this with Piper (a low ah-ah-ah) and it worked like a charm.
Over time, as she responded to it and after she knew her name, I worked in "Piper, no" with it so that others could more easily correct her in my absence. When I was training P, I always used her name with the command, and it seems to work well. Piper, come. Piper, sit. etc.
