My ds has seven teeth now, 4 up top and 3 on the bottom. He's had the top 2 middle teeth for about a week and a half now. Today I felt them when he was nursing for the first time. At first time I didn't realize it -- I thought it was just a really tight suction & hard sucking. Then when I popped him off I saw his teeth marks right where the nipple meets the areola. Arrg!

Suggestions, experiences, stories.... be blunt (or should I say sharp? :LOL ). I've nursed him a few times since then and it's been all right, but I'm definitely feeling them...

I doubt he is trying to bite you! The fact is those teeth are there. I think there must be some sort of toughening up that you go thru when they teeth. I used to feel it all the time but now when he is done I still see the teeth marks but I am not sore. My ds use to suck extra hard when he was teething. I made me sore like the dickens but after a while I didn't feel it until a new tooth came in! It seemed to go on forever! If you can stand it don't stop nursing him. It is one of the best nonmedicated ways to help him with these aches of teething! It will get better... I promise.

Oh, I wouldn't stop nursing him!
I'd go into withdrawl! It isn't that he's biting, it's just that I cn feel the pressure. I think I've noticed that when he tilts his head up to nurse I feel more pressure, so I'm trying to minimize that.

Boy those teeth sure are cute, though!

Make sure his latch isn't sloppy. You will know!! THose teeth will just rub a hole. Remove him and make him relatch.

However, you may get some constant slight rubbing. You will get used to it pretty quickly. I nursed ds until 2and 3/4. He had all 20 teeth and we were fine.

However, while teething he did bite me a couple times. I would say,"Ouch!" loudly and immediatley remove him. After a while I would let him on again. He figured it out pretty quick.

I'm having the same kinds of issues. I think dd is teething right now...she has 4 teeth and think she must be working on some more (at least I hope i don't have the world's crankiest baby EVER!).

It is helpful to know it gets better, but right now I am dying of nipple pain. Any suggestions of ways to make them feel better now? i.e. will tylenol or soemthing help? i took a bath last night thinking that would help. I'm not bleeding or anything, just sore.

Arrg -- Kerc, no fun.
What is the pain from? Biting? Constant nursing, TIGHT latch...?

Ian bit me tonight & I pulled him right off & said "no Ian you can't bite mommy..." he screamed bloody murder! He was also tired & in the middle of a diaper change (boy I love leaning over a changing table & nursing my bare butt boy :LOL
: ).

I think he's don't for a while, he's started sleeping better, so we'll see. He's still a bit fussy, though -- maybe trying to get back to a decent sleeping schedule? :headscratch ...as if he's ever had one!

i think i figured it out -- bad latch when we are laying down on the left side. so i think she wasn't getting all the milk out and i had several plugged ducts. are there ducts right under where the aerola meets the normal skin?

I pumped yesterday at work and beforehand I felt these little bumps there that were super hard. I pumped for almost 30 mins (i usually only let down for 10!) and when i was done -- no pain, no bumps and LOADS of milk for dd.

So we are only nursing on that side sitting up. Which went jsut fine.
