Does anyone's lo's eczema flare up when teething? Something is giving my dd the slightest bit of problem. She isn't red but is itching her neck some and her sleep is a bit disturbed. I have eliminated so much, there isn't much left right now that I can think of. She is getting two molars on the bottom and I expect the top ones aren't far behind. She has her hand in her mouth constantly, so I know that the teeth are bothering her. I read some stuff on the web that links the two, just wondering if anyone here has had that experience.

Thanks!

Ok, so supposed teething does make eczema flare, what to do about it? I mean when it is an allergen causing it I eliminate the allergen, but what to do in this case. Should I just put some steroid cream on it and see if that helps? Last night was bad, I got no sleep (and she didn't get much either
). She spent alot of time outside playing in the grass, which I have always suspected as a possible culprit, so maybe a combination of the two caused the bad night.

Hi Therese's mama! I have been struggling with my little one having eczema for the past 4 months and it is still a puzzle to me. I have eliminated dairy, sugar, chocolate, gluten, peanuts, bananas, citrus fruit and, just recently eggs. She had not had a flare up for two months and had one when we went to a "Hibachi grill/sushi" restaurant and all she ate was some rice and miso soup. I suspected soy, so I eliminated that two weeks ago. Well, she had another flare up several nights ago and I now trying to figure this out! It is frustrating! She has her third tooth coming in (top left), so maybe there is a correlation...it is a mystery. We are both doing a yeast cleanse right now due to her reoccurent diaper rash, so I'm wondering if she is just excreting toxins....this is what traditional chinese medicine practioners say anyhow. Well, I put toasted sesame oil on her whole body two times a day, which seems to help moisturize it well. Sometimes I'll try coconut oil. We avoid baths, try to have her shower with us and just do a rinse off with water...no soaps. I'll wash her head with Olive Oil Kiss My Face soap, but not every day. I wish there was an ongoing thread for people struggling with their little one's eczema and the strategies that work for them. I thought we had it mostly under control, but BOOM....then it flares back and I'm really playing a guessing game. I'm still nursing, so I have guilt issues that I'm causing her skin problems. She eats rice, beans, veggies, millet, quinoa, buckwheat, lentils, coconut milk, coconut oil, olive oil, cod liver oil, and that's about it! It is quite frustrating to figure out what to eat every day! Good luck and keep in touch....I'd love to hear if you figure it out.

I just started a new thread and hadn't noticed this one --- Does your LO get into books or stuff with glue in it? (I mean, accidentally -- I'm pretty sure no one encourages teething on magazines, etc.)

I was nursing last night and I thought maybe there was a chance that wheat paste or the glue used in the book binding was a problem...Just one of those random thoughts of mine that occur when I nurse. Even if it's not wheat paste, the glue still could irritate.

Anyway, disregard if your LO does not get into books

Wish I could offer more help.
