my little one is 8 months and has 2 bottom teeth and is in the process of getting 3 top ones.. and the last 2 days almost every nursing session begins and ends with her biting me (right on the nipple no less). its sooo intense and im getting scared to nurse her. i say "ow that hurts" in a firm voice.. i put her down and put away the boob.. but nothing seems to be helping.

both of my nipples are now sore (just in the last few hours)..which hasnt happened since she was small - and im beginning to worry that i might be pregnant.. would this be more likely to make her want to bite me..? i havnt noticed a drop in my milk but she has also been super interested in food lately..and nursing less durring the day and more at night.. all night nursing in fact..
:

a i guess im just wondering if there is something else i can do.. i LOVE nursing my baby and plan to as long as she wants.. but i also would like to keep my nipples and breasts intact... dreading doing something i love feels terrible and i know my baby is feeling sad abut it too..

help!

I don't know if I can offer much advice, though i can TOTALLY empathize. Maybe it's the full moon, but it seems like everyone's having 'chomping' issues this week!

DS is just 9 months, and I am currently nursing a gaping HOLE in my nipple from one good bite. Nursing is excruciating

Hang in there, buy yourself a giant tub of lansinoh, and put your consciousness in your big toe next time you nurse.

Have you tried the pulling her into your boob trick yet? It's what's saved my nipples from DD's teeth!

When your DD chomps down, pull her into your breast so that her nose is covered. After a moment, she'll pull back when she can't breathe (it sounds mean, but it just takes a second!). At the same time say "No biting". It took my DD three or four repetitions before she understood and she tries it out again every now and then, but it works wonders I tell you!
