I thought it'd be fun if we got to know each other beyond pregnancy. What is something we might not know about you?

I'll start...

I was born with 3 kidneys.

I am a ping pong fanatic, yet I have a table I rarely use.

Um, I'm boring!

I knit

I'm a bad housekeeper

I like to cook but don't like to do the dishes when I'm done

I'm thinking of going back to school for one of two things: anthropology (specific to women and birth and breastfeeding) or nursing so I can get an IBCLC cert

I have blue eyes.

I've been to Iceland.

I'm a word nerd (writer and editor by trade; love crossword puzzles, Scrabble and the like).

I'm a cat person more than a dog person.

I'm an INFP/INTP, depending on the day.

My mom died 5 days before my 20th birthday (which was almost 17 years ago).

I grew up in a dry town (though apparently you can now buy alcohol there).

Ok.. lets see.

I grew up on a farm. I have a degree in Animal Science (cows, pigs, Ag). However, I live in a city now (and love it!).

We want to have 4 kids or so.

My Dh was born in Italy, so my kids are 1/2 Italian. We are Catholic.

I love Stephen King books! I have almost all of them. I also like to do photography, I have a black and white darkroom that I set up in my bathroom.

I had childhood epilepsy and my younger brother has it now. (another nonvax issue).

We have 2 dogs, 1 cat and i used to foster dogs/cats before we had kids.

I grew up on a bug farm in Northern California (my parents raised fly parasites, biological pest control for ranchers). We had 33 acres and had every animal at one time or another.

Among my many jobs in college, I have been a yoga instructor, and I did singing telegrams and was a clown for kids parties.

I already have more gray hair than my grandmother and mother!

I am striving to become a SAHM and hope to be pregnant/nursing nonstop for the next several years!

hmm, let's see -

I was born with 6 fingers on each hand (polydactyl - removed at birth) - it runs in the family

I'm a LLL Leader Applicant and almost done!

Since I WAHM ptime I am betwixt and between - sometimes I think sahm ftime would be great, other times when my 2 yr old is a challenge I escape downstairs to my home office
and then of course feel guilty for "escaping" oy.

Though it's probably not a surprise given my screen name, I love to play old-time fiddle (like what you'd hear at a square dance), sing sappy old country songs, and secretly hope at least one of my kids will play the banjo!

Geez - I'm almost embarrased to put my boring stuff on here!

-I'm a WOHM but there are days when I think I'd like a year or so to be a SAHM

-I played flute, piccolo, piano and oboe growing up

- I do some necklace, bracelet and earring beading now; I also sew although I don't have much time for either hobby

- I met my DH when I was 18 and married him when I was 27; so we've been together over 15 years

- I used to do Labrador Retriever Rescue work (until I had my daughter) and had 3 Labs of my own at one point. We just lost our last Lab in May

-I'm a relative of Martin Van Buren (one of our long ago presidents)

- My brother is 12 years younger than me (yes, he was planned!) and he's my only sibling; my DH is 17 years younger than his sister and there are only the two of them

I think that's about it.

This is a cool thread:

Let's see....

I am also a SAHM to my 2 year old Coltrane.

I play clarinet and guitar and love to bang on the drums! My DH is very musical and DS is showing signs too!

I have been an acupuncturist for 5 years and a massage therapist for 10 years.

I was in the Peace Corps for two years in Kazakstan. I can still sing a song or two in Kazakh and I understand quite a bit of Russian.

I LOVE spinach.

Hi,

I am a SAHM, and my husband is retired. Some think my kids have 2 parents at home. I think I already have 3 kids!

Everytime I start acupuncture school I get pregnant..I think acupuncture is my passion, but maybe somebody is trying to tell me differently.

I used to be a massage therapist, and my husband is mad that he never gets a massage.
:

Both my maternal and paternal grandmothers were pregnant at 40, as I am now...maybe that is in the genes.

I am related to William Henry Harrison (died after 30 days in office, after giving the longest inaugural speech ever, on a very cold day), and Matthew Fontaine Maury (aka Pathfinder of the Seas, and my namesake).

Both my boys were born about a week early on a Monday, which, if this baby follows suit, will be the first day of kindergarten for my oldest. Oh well, he may just have to miss the first day of kindergarten.

Maury

mom to Oliver (5/22/00 and Carter 4/7/03 and babylulu due 8/13/05)

I'm a Trekkie.
: Seriously, I've already talked to dh about renewing our wedding vows at the Las Vegas Hilton Star Trek Experience. I own all TNG episodes on DVD. And someday I hope to own TOS, DS9, VGR, and Enterprise.

And I have a thing for Tom Selleck. With the mustache. Don't know why.

Kerri,

That's so cool you're an acupuncturist. I used to go for treatment on a reg basis and felt dreamy after each session.

I came close to studying acupuncture here in Maryland and then ended up switching directions. It interests me, so maybe one day I'll return to it. Who knows!?

=)
