So after my temp rises after ovulation, how long should it stay high before going back down? Are you still fertile when your temp has risen? This is my first full cycle charting so I guess I'm just being impatient trying to see what my temp will do. Thanks

ok, once your temp rises, you will have already ovulated, so no , you are no longer fertile, because you've already ovulated. if you have already ovulated, then the length of your luteal phase it typically 12-14 days, sometimes a little more or less. It shouldn't be shorter than 10 days, as that indicates a luteal phase defect. for many women temps fall again right before AF comes. i am not an expert, but i hope this helps have you read "taking charge of your fertility?" it can explain all of this better than i can.

TCYOF says that you need to wait for at least 3 high temps to confirm ovulation. From what I've seen in the gallery at FF, temps stay high until just before AF then drop down. It's hard to explain, but there's this typical AF curve with a bit of a bump then a sudden drop at the end of the luteal phase. Of course, this isn't how it is for everyone, just what I've noticed most often.

During my NFP class we were told to watch for 3 consecutive days of a 4/10 temp shift (rise). Then you were pretty much in the clear and past the point of being able to get pregnant....until of course your next ovulation.
