Hello!

I recently had a Mirena IUD removed (the one with progestrone-and I think this is why my chart is all crazy!) and began charting. I had a thermal shift 4 (98.0 from 97.2, 97.4, 97.5) days ago. I thought at first it was due to lack of sleep or travel because I hadn't really had any fertile CM but it has stayed up for 4 days now (98.0, 97.7, 98.1, 98.0). I had some fertile-type mucus and SR the day of the temp. rise then a sticky day but then yesterday and today I've had lots of fertile eggwhite CM.

When did I ovulate? SHould I go with the temp. rise or the CM? Which is more accurate? Basically I'm trying to decide if there is a chance of being pregnant and how soon I can test... How much could the left-over hormones be affecting me?

Thanks!

according to tcoyf, you should take both into account. You go by the later one. You also shouldn;t start relying on your chart to tell you anything for a t least the first cycle, or 2 weeks if you are not having cycles yet. Think of this as the time to get to know your body and how to chart. If you haven;t read the book yet, I HIGHLY recommend it. It answered all my questions.

If you just had the iud removed, I'm sure that the hormones are still stirring things up in there. if you ovulated you should not be able to have another fertile phase during this cycle.

It is possible that something else is going on there. I often have a little ewcm before af, and something like it after intercourse (even with a condom), or maybe you had a short "practice" fertile period, no ovulation, and now your body is trying it again. I had months of this after I got off depo, which is a higher dose of progesterin.

Did you start taking your temps at a different time? I've noticed that even a 1/2 hour difference can effect my temps. Did you start going to bed earlier or later? Have you been feeling just a little bit sick? You mentioned that you've been traveling. That could be part of it.

as far as knowing if you are pregnant, there are tests that you can take really early now, I thnk 4 days po, but the earlier you take it, the higher the chance of false negative (-test when you really are preg), so the results may not be very reassuring. You can wait and see what happens. You've only just barely started charting, so you really don't have a good baseline to compare the changes to. You might just wait and later you may see a good fertile phase and temp shift. If your temps stay elevated with no change for longer than 2 weeks, you may want to take a test and see.

When coming off of hormones, the first couple of cycles may be a little wonky and this would be reflected in the cervical mucus observations. If you are TTA, abstain until you can get 5 days of thermal shift. Mucus observations may be confusing or no help, especially the first month or two. Generally by 3 months off of HBC the mucus sign calms down and is more reliable.
take care

Thanks for the input. Things haven't been any clearer so far...
. I have been charting on Fertility Friend and today it changed my ovualtion date from 11 days ago to 3 days ago. But neither of the dates align with a cross check of CM or cervix. I have been feeling pregnant. But I guess we'll see what happens in the next couple of weeks. I wish I could post my chart here but I can't figure out how to do that with FF. I had thought that my chart was becoming triphasic. Now I'll just have to wait I guess. Ugh!
: I am so anxious thought to find out.

Thanks again!
