Hi NC friends,
I am thinking of going to Asheville this summer, but would be interested in camping from my pop-tent in a state park facility. Deep woods are not necessary, but shower facilities are nice. Can you recommend some parks near Asheville? I want to explore Ashville during the day and only sleep in my tent at night. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Lake Powatan has camping and is near a fun lake, I don't know about shower facilities, though. Another option is to camp at the VERY child-friendly hostel (Arthaus). It's $8 a night, their are always kids there (the owner is a mama), you can use their kitchen, bathrooms/showers, and their is all-you-can-make breakfast. Just a thought!

Hi there! I really like the Asheville area and I enjoy camping. Here is a link to all the national parks in NC.

http://data2.itc.nps.gov/parksearch/state.cfm?st=nc

Another more traditional camping place. http://www.campfirelodgings.com/

When will you be in Asheville? There is a super cool music festival that is very kid friendly in end of July. It's free, full of different things to do and so much fun!

http://www.belechere.com/
