Has anyone noticed that traditional food prep has made them make other, more "traditional" changes in their kitchen/lifestyle?

I'm only 25 so maybe it'll seem funny what I'm considering traditional.

I now wear an apron all the time. It's just so practical to not have to walk to a hanging dishcloth or paper towels to dry your hands. I would have never done this before -- it would have seemed so dirty to me. I wear my hair back a lot more.

I have no more plastic in the kitchen. Everything gets warmed up in the oven a la grandma style. I enjoy sweeping. I use the porch as a refridgerator sometimes.

I'm more "dirty" now in general, mostly because I don't have as much fear about bacteria. I have a strong faith in the beneficial bacteria I surround myself with to ward off the bad.

I confidently support my children through the fever they rarely get, because I turst what I'm feeding them lets their bodies do the job, you know? Tylenol and other fever reducing tricks seem harmful to me now.

What else?

we are really into wladorf education ( well, non education at this point, our girls are at home with me) and a lot of waldorfy stuff is very old fashioned as well.... Like the kids wash the doll clothes and napkins by hand...we have certain days for certain things ( thursday wash day, monday soup day etc). We also sing alot as opposed to telling the kids what do to....and we dont have very many apliances....most things get done by hand...no microwave, breadmachine, things like that.

I love the slowing down this all has caused in our lives and we all feel very nourished, both mentally and physically...and I feel satisfied in my work...Ii feel like i am actually making a difference...
