I have been dealing with horrible acne since I was about 13 years old and have probably spent thousands of dollars on everything under the sun to treat and prevent it. My skin care regimen was ridiculous as I was using like 5 different products at a time and STILL breaking out. Well, I read through the threads here about using honey and figured what did I have to lose? If nothing else, its natural and cheap. So, I have been washing my face twice daily with honey and adding brown sugar to it once a day for exfoliation and I am in AWE! (and wishing I had known about this forever ago!) Within a few days all of my acne cleared up and even the scars from old breakouts (I was a picker as a teen) have gotten less noticeable. My skin is smoother and so super soft.
On a side note, my mom had sent me some lotion for acne prone skin (she sells Avon) and I used it one night for the heck of it and woke up the next morning wih three freakin pimples. Grrr.....
Anyway, just wanted to say I am another dedicated honey user now and thank you all so much!
Its pretty funny, I used to have sooo many products in my bathroom. I was a hardcore shower gel, scented lotion, perfume, etc..... addict and now I wash with baking soda and lavendar oil and tea tree oil, exfoliate with brown sugar, wash my hair with baking soda and ACV and wash my face with honey and brown sugar and I have never felt cleaner or fresher. And bonus is as a broke single momma I can get all this stuff on food stamps. This site has saved me sooo much money, encouraging me to stick with cloth dipes, to try cloth wipes and family cloth, to unschool...... Life is so much easier now.

You may notice later in the game that you can skip the aspirin. For most people the salycilic (however it's spelled, I'm too lazy to look it up right now) acid is too drying for your face. That acid is what makes Clean and Clear and several other acne products work. ACV and/or witch hazel may be enough after you clear your initial acne. I find that with honey, I don't need to tone afterward since honey is already slightly acidic.

Anyway, somebody forwarded me this yesterday about a woman who spent a small fortune on beauty products and then went sans soap/sans washing (at all) for 6 weeks.

In her case, it's a drastic and disgusting thing to do (her hair stayed in a ponytail by itself without the ponytail holder, her hair was so greasy, and she had quite a bit of bacteria on her - and of course, her own children and other people wouldn't come near her), she found, but her skin improved, so now she has a balance of simple, good organic products.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...n_page_id=1879
