Ok, so that was a little bit of an exaggeration, but they seem to be EVERYWHERE!!!!! I find lines of them on my counter, my floor, etc. They come in through the doors and the electrical outlets.

So far I've just tried some little "house" things that they go in, eat the "food" and take back to their village that quits them from multiplying, but I'd rather have a safer (to my family and dog) and more natural way to take care of this problem.

Any suggestions?

We have had them for about 8 months & I resorted to those ant bait tin things also-did not help-
I keep my garbage outside or get it to the dump quick-cans & sweets are terrible -my dishes get ants on them overnight-have to keep them done -
I need suggestions also!

the bait traps are the only thing that has ever worked for us (i *hate* sprays, cough choke gag). i look forward to seeing some herbal alternatives. we get a parade coming up from the plumbing every so often or from a palm leaf against the window. it's amazing how fast they arrive!

my brother had major issues with ants and he sprayed his window sills and base bords with orange glo (the wood oil) and never had an issue since. with that in mind, if you aren't comfortable with orange glo, maybe a home made something with orange oil. also supposedly they won't cross a line of chalk.

hmmm look what I found http://www.bugsrdone.com/

when the ants get out of control in our gardens/lawn, i enroll the childrens help and on a dry day go out and "feed the ants"; put small mounds of cream of wheat/rice in the dry form along the path they are taking for to forge for food and you'll have a bunch of them taking this free meal to their home, when consumed it will swell up and well it's not overly "humane" for those that have issues with that, but it does knock back the populations.

I bought Concern from www.wormsway.com. It's a citrus based bug killer. It seems to work really good, my problem is I don't know where they are all coming from so I'm still seeing them. They are much reduced, however, since using it.

Peppermint oil will keep them at bay, but not kill them. They were getting into my dishwasher so I'd put several drops directly in there. Gone! Dh has a reaction to the peppermint so I've had to drop that. I was also putting several drops into a spray bottle with water for my counters etc in the kitchen. It worked until I had to quit using it.
