I just received a Target catalog for baby stuff (don't know why - my son is 2.5), and the book "The Modern Girl's Guide to Motherhood" was featured prominently on several pages. For instance, there's a picture of a new mom reading the book, with a video monitor (displaying her awake and alone baby) sitting on the table next to her reading chair.

Anyway, I've never read this book, but I remember hearing that it was kind of anti-breastfeeding, and the comments on Amazon seem to bear that out. Do you think it's worth pointing this out to Target? I assume they're pushing the book because it tells new moms what they "have to buy" in order to be a competent parent - and Target just happens to sell all of it! Yay!

I've never heard of the book but now I'm curious. Must google it...

It's an awful book. I posted about it several months ago and many from this board went to amazon to post negative reviews about it. I will try to find my thread on it.

I saw it at Target last week..there was only 1 copy left. I considered moving it to the automotive section.

ETA: here's my thread where I give a run down on the book http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=483665
