this, except I've always loved it! This is my favorite time of the year, hands down. The smells, the colors, the weather, the lights, the music, the friendship and general festivity....I love it! I also love that everyone kind of shares the experience...it's just a joyful time IMO. I adore everything about it! I'm so happy it's here again!

I'm still mostly a scrooge, but I do love all the baking. I'm thrilled to have an excuse to make so much candy, and so many cookies, and to give it all away. Nothing says "happy" anything like a tin full of homemade fudge, cookies, and brittle :)

I love the lights and colors. I love the happiness and wonder on my kids' faces when I decorate the house and they see it for the first time. I love driving around town with them at night and looking at the lights and hearing them ohh and ahh. I love baking with them.

I am mostly a scrooge and get overwhelmed by the endless music, lights, and decorations. But DD loves to see it all, so I mostly enjoy her enjoyment. I admist that I do like going through our old neighborhood and seeing the crazy displays as there are a few that are way over the top...I always wondered how they could afford their electric bills come January! I do also love the sweet, especially gingerbread, and eggnog. I would eat both through the summer if given the chance!

Music

Baking

Decorating - we don't do much, but I love doing the tree

Salvation Army's Red Kettle drive - it's become a tradition for dd1 and ds2 to put a quarter in each one they see, and it's fun.

The big gift exchange and dinner at my mom's house.

All the activities leading up to Christmas Day. Today, we put up the poster board Christmas tree, and dd1 and ds2 added new decorations. I'm not sure what we're doing tomorrow (but I'd better figure it out soon, because it needs to be in the advent calendar pocket tonight!!).

I also really enjoy picking out that perfect gift for someone, but this year is kind of stressful and we're kind of strapped. For the first time in my memory, I'm not enjoying gift shopping.

I love it all! I love the twinkling lights, the festive feeling, the anticipation and planning of presents, being Santa - it is all so magical. It is also fun to establish new traditions with my kids (like doing an advent calendar).

I can't wait until finals week is over and I can really enjoy it!
