It's hot and I cannot sleep. A/c is not turned on yet. It was 87 degrees today. I am going to petition the spouse to have the annual A/c inspection done ASAP. I think my house is still 82.

Getting very very frustrated at people telling me what sex my baby is. I'm okay with "I think its a girl" or "I Guess its a boy" but this. "Its a girl, I just know" crap is driving me crazy. Partially because I kind of want a boy more.....

Either way, I'm happy because the little one is moving like crazy and no one knows but me . And the 20 week ultrasound it TUESDAY!!!!! So so so excited to SEE the baby. Last time we saw him/her they were a little blob!

I'm still excited about it getting warm. Give me a month or so and I'll probably be complaining about having no air conditioning and blah blah blah... heh

sk8boarder15: good luck with your appointment tomorrow

Wearing my first maternity shirt today...now that we have summer weather, I'm going into the maternity tops. There's no way I'm going to unpack my summer stuff for just a few weeks of use.

We have the A/C on already but I sleep in a bed with my DH and my two dogs and my two cats so it gets a little too hot to just have the windows open and the fan on.

My emotions have been in overdrive lately. I just can't seem to keep my mouth shut. This weekend we went to the zoo and as we were leaving a group of 7 adults or so were walking along the sidewalk taking the whole thing up. Our group (four adults) moved over to the right, as is the custom, to make room for everyone to pass politely. They did not move over! There were two capable able bodied women walking directly at me and my big belly and they wouldn't make room on the sidewalk! As we passed them I said something loudly about needing to share the sidewalk and when I looked back at my DH and friends to say something, they were staring back at me angrily. I normally would never say anything, but I wasn't really rude and didn't swear or shove anyone. Oh and if you want to see what I mean by my big belly, I actually finally posted on the belly pics thread.

In other news, my mom called me yesterday to tell me my aunt thinks my baby registry (which I just made last week) is too small and is flawed because it didn't have any bibs or hats. And she is shocked I am planning to cloth diaper. Why do I have to register for every baby product in the world? In my experience, people buy you whatever they want, registry or not. Also, I have two registries. One at a brick and mortar store for those who won't use the internet and another at an online store with a better selection. Ugh is all I have to say to that.

Editing to add: Good Luck on appts this week! I have my next MW appt this friday.

I have been very vocal about what I have already bought on Facebook so everyone (that matters lol) knows I do NOT need receiving blankets (but am more than willing to accept handmade blankets, those are always nice) onesies or burp cloths.

I just went to the fridge and got out the can that had left-over icing from the birthday party and ate it with a spoon. We're talking the bad kind of icing, that has a sticker on it saying "Warning: Made only from High Fructose Corn Syrup, Hydrogenated Oils, Trans Fat, the Blood of Puppies, Pesticides, and Every Evil Thing Known To Man." It was so simultaneously revolting and delicious.

I'm going off to curl up in a ball of shame and try not to vomit.

Where is ROM's "What are you looking forward to?" thread? Cause I'm looking forward to not wanting to do that anymore.

Yeah, registries are useless. You may get one or two things from your registries, otherwise you'll just get what people want to give. Really I just made sure my mom (who threw the shower) told everyone who was invited "she's breastfeeding, no bottles or bottle-feeding stuff, and cloth diapering, so no disposable diapers."

My mom (who is otherwise pretty hippie and AP about everything) was not into cloth diapering when I decided on it while pregnant. Her comment "*laugh* Yeah, that won't last long."

But after the baby was born and she actually saw the diapers in use and realized how comfy they were and how easy they were, and realized how much disposables COST, she now thinks I'm a genius and she's all about the cloth diapers. I think part of it was that she was thinking of olden-time cloth diapers... really they've come a long way since gerber flats, pins, and plastic pull-up pants. Now whenever we're around someone and diapers come up, mom has to go on about how great ours are "Oh, show them the Snappi, Kelly! Ya'll won't believe this thing, it's so cool."

I was thinking the same thing when I saw ROM said that. Very few of my non maternity shirts are fitting me very well anymore. And I am feeling kinda like an igloo. or a geodesic dome.

I am hoping to get some stuff off the registries, I registered for some great kid books and cds on amazon along with all my cloth diaper stuff.

It's going to be a loooong week. I'm going to have to have a confrontation with a Tenant and to be honest I am a little afraid of it. I work in subsidized housing and deal with a lot of mentally ill people as well as developmentally disabled etc. This man is very unstable and is an alcoholic to boot. He is extremely volatile and has been threatening and intimidating other Tenants and the issue will need to be dealt with. I work here alone and although I don't expect him to become physical at all, I fully expect a nasty reaction. I'm SO sensitive right now with these preggo hormones that I just hope I can deal with it professionally. I'm so used to it that normally I don't have an issue, but I honestly feel like crying already just thinking about it. I'm going to request that a third party attend the initial meeting for my own safety, but nothing prevents this guy from coming to my office at any other time and freaking out on me when no one else is here.

Overall just a stressful week at work and it's still raining here! I'm so jealous of all of your good weather. I DO live in the Pacific NW, but it's unseasonably rainy, even for here. Blah.

Other than that, I'm feeling pretty good. It feels like this baby has had a giant growth spurt this week (I'm 21wks today). Anyone else?

YES! I feel huge all of a sudden...and TIRED again.

Re: the maternity shirts...I tend to wear a lot of simple cotton long-sleeved t-shirts, so during this past month I continued to wear them....they're just snug in the belly, that's all.

We told the kids (4 and 2.5) about the baby last night. DD (2.5) immediately asked if she could see the baby, and lifted up my shirt. Ds (4) was upset that it's not a boy, because he wanted a roommate. Once I told him he could room with the baby girl once she's old enough, he was happy.

Today he learned the baby could hear his voice, so he's been singing songs to her. "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," made up songs about how much he loves her...it's pretty much the bees knees. Oh, and he's started coming up to my tummy and talking to her. I'm not allowed to respond. If I do, he reminds me he's having a conversation with his baby sister. His first statement this afternoon? "I design cars." He then went through a long list of everything he could draw...seriously, it went on for about 5 minutes.

Where in Oregon do you live? I live in Oregon too and brrr, it's chilly out there today. So nice yesterday.

Over the weekend, I found it my nephew is expecting his first! He's so excited, she's only about 9 weeks and they're already talking about co-sleeping and natural birth and baby wearing. It's so cool. It was fun to be able to talk to someone about all the stuff I've been reading. My DH isn't exactly a first-timer anymore and all my pregnancy hormones and interest in birth stories don't exactly excite him. Their baby is due at the end of October, so our babies will be close in age. Nice, because noone else in my family is having babies right now (well my brother and his wife are trying, but they had a miscarriage about 6 months ago and so far, they still aren't pregnant again), so there are any other younger cousins.

Oh and woo hoo, I got my laptop to turn on for now, so I'm gonna respond to as many threads as a I can while it's working. It's such a pain to post through my phone.

Sheila, have you decided on a name? Didn't you post a thread about your family's naming traditions, and finding something with Sheila? What names are you thinking of recently?

ETA....sorry! I got your girl vibe thread confused in my head and thought you were having a girl again!

Wow! I can't believe you're just busting out the maternity shirts. I've been wearing mine since 6 weeks due to massive growth in my boobs.

I live near Salem in a tiny little podunk town called Mt. Angel. We are a couple miles away from Silverton.

Too bad we aren't a little closer! I've lived here for a couple of years but I still barely know anyone.
