she's no where near quitting nursing, though life is always a surprise, right?

she's been sticking her fingers in her mouth lately and I caught myself (in my head) wanting her SO DESPERATELY to fall in love with sucking a thumb or finger or whathaveyou.

anyway, it's been a tough week of lots of nursing and my really wanting freedom.

I hate coming here just to talk about how hard it is. But. It is hard.

I wish, these days, I had it in me to rip it away from her (it=nursing) but I don't. I really am glad I don't have it in me, but, ugh, it is HARD sometimes!

When I am worn down I make it a joke with DS.

I give him nursies when he asks -- but if he starts asking over and over and getting crazy about it and I am not in the mood... I start goofing with him.

I say things like "What, I can't hear you. I am not really sure what it is you're asking for?" (He is VERY loud and clear when he asks) So this usually cracks him up.

Or I say... "what about mama? What if mama needs some nursies? Who's going to nurse me?!" This ALWAYS makes him laugh and lighten the mood.

Sometimes too I say "Nanas are tired honey, would you mind nursing on my elbow? How about my big toe? Do you think I might have milkies in my ear?"
And so on.

Anyhow, it's a gentle way of setting limits on days when you are feeling sucked out!

ah, I like the joking idea! I think I do that too... it's true that even 30 seconds delay can feel like a relief sometimes.

she's feeling better, BUT, I think she's going through a LOT so has been nursing like CRAZY.

I never, ever, ever thought I'd feel so tired of it!

that said, the moments of peace (when I'm really in the mood) are so extraordinary, I'm still so glad I'm following her lead...
