OK mamas. I'm tired of hoarding. I'm tired of spending all of this money. I'm tired of being scared of hemp stink and doing so many insane rinses out of paranoia to avoid it. I'm tired of obsessing over my "perfect" stash, what it looks like and generally obsessing over diapers. I want my life back... So today I just boxed up all of my fitteds and AIO's and put them away. I replaced them w/ flats and all of my prefolds (that I've been using all of the time anyway) in the designated "diaper drawer"..place of honor. Now..I'm going to go 2 weeks and see how I feel. This includes a trip out of town, where all I will use is pf's and 2 WIO's under wool pants in case we can't change as often on the road. I've got some cool fabric, so I'm going to do some applique and painting on my plain pf's, so I still have the cute artsy look I love but w/o the $$$.

When I sell everything off I'm going to pay for 4 pairs of longiesand then buy some really cool wool food and waldorfy things for the kids to play with and the knitting needles I've been meaning to get forever to finish Lukes wonderpants. I'm also going to save some back for some more BBB, since they work beautifully w/ pinned pf's!

Whew..i'm so excited to not be emotionally chained to *diapers*!

Me, too! We'll see!! I'm so tempted to just list everything today, since I feel like I've had some sort of epiphany, but I don't want to do something rash I may regret later!

That sounds great. If it's not fun anymore then why do it!? I hope it all works out for you. Definitely do the trial before you go selling things off though. You may find some sort of middle ground. I can really enjoy my fitteds for years on end without needing to spend one more dime. With my first babe I stopped buying when he was about 1 and used those diapers for another two years without buying more at all until I got preggo again. I love prefolds too and I could definitely just do pf's if it came to it. You're right - the laundering couldn't be simpler! Have you seen the new smilies? This one is cute and you deserve it -

Yeah, give it at least a couple of weeks and see how you feel before you head off to the pawn shop with the lot...but I don't think you'll be sorry.
I am a simple-stash girl and I love it. PFs and wool, all day, all the time. Get some pretty PFs and some wool that makes you smile and you'll be fine. I am never bored, I love it. I don't know how some of you mamas do it, maintaining and grooming those hyena dipes. :LOL My PFs are more like dogs: they love me no matter what I do to them, how stained they get, how I wash them...they are always happy to see me.

Please report back ASAP how that works ot for you, Jesse! I
my hyena diapers, but I am getting really tired of the hunt, kwim? I just want to be able to buy something when I want to buy something, and not have to fend off fifteen other people going for exactly the same thing. And saving a bit of money would be nice, too. (Isn't that one of the reasons I started this in the first place?!?
)

I don't think I could do flats and prefolds all the time, though. But maybe something more attainable. We shall see.

: Wow! Let us know how it works out. It's funny b/c I'm heading the same direction - I'm reallly feeling the prefolds, prefitteds, and flats love lately. Oh, and I've started making my own dipes too, so I can have exactly the prints that I want. And of course, if you do cheapie dipes, you can have really nice wool - and I know how much you
your wool!
So if it works out for you, I just might follow your lead. But I won't be giving up my Fussybutts b/c I'm just not that strong! :LOL

I've been doing the SAME thing! I didn't actually put everything away- but I only took prefolds (and a couple swaddlebees) on vacation last week and it was GREAT! I didn't worry that the prefolds wouldn't get clean, his bottom never looked better, and it really made me realize that diapers really are just poop catchers! Simple is SO wonderful! I sold off all my SOS already- AND my last 2 Elbees...and I don't regret it at all! I am going to keep some fitteds, but for the most part, my stash is "finished". I am DONE buying for Dallin. The new baby will have it's own itty bitty stash, then will be in prefolds/flats and the OS dipes I kept ( no use selling stuff w/ no resale value-YK?) Seriously- it feels SO good...I planned to sell off more, but DH reminded me not to sell "his" (the 12 FB) and then there are the few dipes I keep for "sentimental value". But I've found that in the last 2 weeks I've been reaching for PF's only- even though the others are sitting there...looking at me all neglected :LOL I suppose I'll change my mind come winter again and I'll want fitteds- so that's why I'm hanging on to some

I have been using fairly simple stuff for awhile and weaned myself off of the diaper obsession...I feel so FREE :LOL It's true though, we spend waaayyy too much time on some of this stuff, I think.
Putting them away for a bit is the best way to break the bond!
