Okay, here goes....

OB is talking about doing my c/s as early as 34 weeks because of this stupid pre-eclampsia.

I have been *planning* for a 7-8 lb kiddo (my dd was 7 lb 8 oz).

I *DO NOT* use prefolds. Not gonna happen. I know they're cheap, but I hate 'em. I go through phases where I can tolerate them for a minute or two, but that's it!

Sooo, I have no idea what will work if this kiddo comes out super tiny.

I have:
12 Nanipoos newborn fitteds
6 Loveybums newborn (or small?) fitteds
5 Fuzzibunz smalls (look enormous)
8 or so Cloud 9 size small fitteds
Angelwraps AIO size newborn (could be small, but it is TINY)

Is any of that appropriate for a 5 or 6 lb kid?

I do not really want to buy a whole bunch of stuff that won't fit for long, but.... ugh, prefolds? Yuck.

I do have tons of MEOS that I use on my older daughter, but I don't think there's ANY way that would fit a tiny baby!

I make 6lb babies and the only thing that fit were Kissaluvs size 0. All the other nb dipes (and I had tons
) were too big for the first month or so. I hope everything goes okay mama!!

Oh no!! When is 34 weeks? Be sure and give your DH my phone number so when you get home (will babe be in the NICU, then?) I can bring dinner by for you if you want. You're vegetarian - anything else I need to know? LMK, ok?

As for newborn stuff, my kiddos are huge (8 1/2, 9 1/2 lbs) so I can't help much there. But I do have 2 dozen infant prefolds and some small proraps you can borrow if you like. Not the ideal if that isn't what you like, but it is an option. Yet, I thought even those were huge on Keller and he was 8 1/2 pounds!!

LMK! Take care of you!!

sorry to hear that you might have to deliver early, that is always scary and stressful news. the babes that i saw at 34 weeks ( worked in a NICU) were usually around 4 lbs or so and spent about a week to 2 in the NICU. our hospital had a policy that any babe under 5 lbs had to be in there till they reached 5 lbs.

i'd have to recommend preemie prefolds and the smallest size peik a boo for fitteds ( if these are still made) i have a handful and they are perfect for tiny tiny babes. kissaluv 0 might be a good fit too.

good luck and best wishes. i hope you don't have to go that early.

Good luck! I was preeclampsia, too.
That is how much my dd weighed when she was born at 33 weeks.

If you have any questions about what to expect with babies born at this gestation, please feel free to PM me or email me at nadsternada @rogers.com (no space).

I don't have any diapering advice, I just hope you can hold off as long as possible. Sending you and your baby good health vibes.

when I had DS I went into labor at 32 weeks and they held me out almost 4 more weeks, anyways my ob checked his weight 2 times a week and I just looked back at my pregnacy journal and at 34 weeks he was approx 3 lbs, that was a guess based on his measurments by ultrasound and by externally feeling him. So that would probably be an ultra premie and somewhere I saw ultra premie diapers b/c I almost bought some for #2 due in Feb so I would have a few just in case this were to happen this time around too. I don't know brands b/c I didn't know about cding this time last year(when I was dealing with almost having ds everyday) Good luck and be prepared for the challenges a small baby brings! Oh and the gerber premie pj's at walmart type stores are almost ultra premie, they were like 3x smaller than other premie things.

Don't know much about the dipes - dd was born at 31 1/2 weeks and spent a month in the NICU, she was 3 lbs 13 oz. We did sposies then because we were living 3 hours from home, and it was all too stressful. When she came home, she was 5 lbs 9 oz and was wearing Pampers newborns. I didn't start cd'ing her until she was 6-7 lbs, and then she fit into infant cpfs and Liz's cloth size 1.

Good luck to you! 34 weekers actually do pretty well, and you may not have to spend much time at all in the hospital!

Lucy's Hope Chest makes preemie clothes and I bet she does preemie fitteds, and she has super-fast turn-around time!

34 weeks-that's really early-I can't imagine ANY thing newborn fitting-you may need to seek out some preemie diapers, and honestly, those will probably be a bit large! Not sure about the fitteds cause I don't use them! I know alot of WAHM will make smaller sizes in diapers and covers if you ask, but that may take some time. Prorap does make a preemie cover, so order now!
And...get some preeimie preolfds to cover the time it may take for the preemie fitteds to come in or for your babe to get in a size 0. Good luck.

Well I too have PIH and pre-eclampsia and I know how scary it can be, I hope you do okay and baby doesn't have to be born early! As for the diapers, I have no clue but some of the WAHM's make a 'doll' sized diaper and may be willing to make some small like that as a custom order for you? I know that a lot of mom's with preemies use doll clothing for their babies for a while so maybe that would work (obviously you will need more absorbancy in them than the 'dolls' would but still possible?) good luck! I will be thinking about you!

I totally think preemie prefolds too. You probably won't even need a cover. If you are feeling a bit more spendy, these are great for little babies - xs fireflys

http://www.fuzbaby.com/diapering.htm

and you can special request a little cover that matches them. They work fabulously, and I think they would resell rather well. I could have sold mine 3 times over.

Good luck to you and your little one. I hope everything goes as smoothly as possible.

Just want to say that 32 weeks is such a great place to be and 34 weeks is golden. Without complications, you could most likely bring the baby home from the hospital with you.

My oldest ds was 29 weeks (3 lbs 4 oz) so I know the challenges of having a preemie. I don't have a lot of cd advice, since we didn't cd with him (we had enough going on already with a 29 weeker lol) but a good place for preemie clothes, etc... is www.preemie.com. Also, Baby Gap and Gymboree have preemie clothes, but I think they might not be on the floor, you have have to ask for them.

HTH. I have so btdt so if you have questions or anything about all things preemie and NICU, feel free to pm me. Good luck...you will be in our thoughts.

greg was 4 pounds 15 ounces at 32 weeks, 2 days, and he was in NICU for 18 days. THey didn't let me use cloth int he NICU
, and even the preemie pampers were big on him. He was just over 5 pounds when we brought him home, and honestly, NOTHING fit well until he was over 6. The closest to fitting were preemie prefolds (seriously, with a baby that small, the snaps and elaxtic int he fitteds just add more bulk and they just DON'T fit.) for covers, I had knit him some preemie soakers that worked well, and we had some preemie litewraps that were awesome. Onc ehe hit about 6 pounds, I was in love with our NB cloud 9 sofites, they fit wonderfully!
