And what, you wonder does this have to do with a toddler??

EVERYTHING, apparently!

ds, 20 months, has spent the last 3 days in utter fascination watching trucks outside all of our windows. He has learned tons of new words: cement truck, big truck, work truck, small truck, truck truck, paver, trash truck ... he's learned that some working men wear hard hats, others baseball caps, some wear glasses, some wear goggles, some wear neither. Its been three days of continual discovery.

Normally I'd say this loud, messy, smelly construction is a pain -- but wyatt's happpy, my house is clean, my emails are caught up, and I've had time to post on MCD. Bring on more construction, please!

My girls would love that! We are the last house on a dead end road so we never see other cars and only the occasional walker/jogger. My parents live on a busy street and when we're there they are glued to the front window!
So much action!

Jett watches all of the goings-on in our neighborhood as well. He loves the trash truck, the myriad of kids always outside, the birds, the dog walking, etc.

When they paved last year, he LOVED it, but he was far too small to get so much out of it.

What a stroke of luck for you!
I agree, pre-kids that would have been a big pain but what toddler wouldn't just love that! We went to the zoo a little while ago and they were doing construction work in the parking lot - we should have saved ourselves the admission money and just spent two hours watching the bulldozers & dump trucks and ds would have been just as happy. When we came home, dh asked "What did you see at the zoo today?" and ds pondered for a minute and said with a big grin "A bulldozer!"

That sounds like my kids -- I got a 1/2 hour of peace out of them when the street sweepers came by last week (we live on a corner of a short block -- they passed by many times).

As soon as I saw the title of this thread, I knew exactly what it would be about!!!!

They are going to widen the street outside our house in a few years... I will be moved out by then, but my ex will still be here. DS will love it!!
