I'll be spending 2 weeks in June in Atlanta, and will have my weekends entirely free. I am looking for ideas of things to do; I will be alone because I am traveling on business and none of my co-workers are going.

Any vegetarian-friendly restaurants I should try?
Outdoor sights to see, hiking, botanical gardens, museums?
Any funky second hand or consignment women's clothing stores?
Festivals or gatherings that would appeal to a crunchy mama?
Any safe and pleasant place to go for a run alone?
Is there any place to rent a bike and go for a scenic bike ride?

I would appreciate any suggestions or advice. Thank you!

Here are options very local to Emory.

People like:
Bhojanic
1363 Clairmont Rd
Decatur, GA
(404) 633-9233

http://www.rainbowgrocery.com/ has a hot and cold food bar and a place to sit down to eat.

http://www.bicyclesouth.com/ is at the corner of North Decatur and Clairmont in the same strip as Rainbow. I don't know if they rent, but they have suggestions on the site for where to bike, and they would be in the know.

Clairmont Campus, up Clairmont from Rainbow/Bike South, has an outdoor pool and gym, volleyball, basketball, tennis, a restaurant and you can do wireless internet there. It's in the complex called the SAAC http://www.emory.edu/HOUSING/CLAIRMONT/saac.html. Clairmont Campus and main campus are on the opposite sides of Lullwater Park, where you can jog, bike or walk in the woods.

http://www.cshepherdpreserve.org/information is a nice place to walk in the woods, around the pond, and so forth. It's in the neighborhood in between Clairmont Campus and the area where Last Chance Thrift is (below).

I do most of my used clothes shopping at Last Chance Thrift which is on Church Street north of North Decatur Road (about 3.3 miles from main campus). It is very well organized and half price on Monday; selection on the weekend is pretty good, as they get the racks full for Monday.

PM me if you want me to take you around.

Don't forget the Carlos museum is right on campus.

http://carlos.emory.edu/

Nearby, the gardens are free.

http://jerrydiltscatering.com/venues...fordgarden.htm

And there's Callanwolde:

http://www.callanwolde.org/

Emory has its own park:

http://www.emory.edu/ADMISSIONS/about/lullwater.htm

Also very close to campus, hiking

http://www.mindspring.com/[email protected]

Nearby, one of my favorite little spots,

http://www.cshepherdpreserve.org/information

Good luck!
