Can anyone recommend some fun stuff to do in Vegas for a GUY who isn't into T&A, and is on a limited budget?

My DH will be there from tonight through Tuesday for work.

I already recommended the Star Trek bar....

Any other suggestions?

Hi!

I was just in Las Vegas a few weeks ago and I found plenty to do that did not revolve around gambling, strip clubs, or shows. My advice: inside every hotel lobby, there will be a daily (perhaps weekly) free publication available called "Las Vegas Today." You can browse by interest. Say for instance, that your husband like jazz music. He can look up local jazz clubs in the index. Does he like live music? They have a big special section devoted to live music of any kind. A big plus: the publication is LOADED with coupons. We used these coupons for EVERYTHING: dinner, museum enterence, etc.

Does he like to do fun, off the wall stuff? I visited the Liberace Museum. Has all of his pianos, Rolls Royces, jewlery, flashy costumes. The museum is run by a small group of dedicated volunteers. One gentlemen (can't remember his name) gave a wonderful, informative tour. The Price: 12 dollars to get in; there was a 2.00 off coupon in "Vegas Today."

There is also a "Madame Tussard's" wax museum that is freaky fun. The Bellagio is hosting an incredicle Monet exhibit, and the Venetian has a mini-Guggenheim museum inside of it. Both of these art exhibits will have entrance fees, but WATCH FOR COUPONS!

Does he like rides and video games? Down by the Treasure Island hotel, there is a fun theme park aimed at adults (no kiddie rides) called "TI." I don't know how much it is to get in, but it seemed popular with men because I heard a few talking about how much they enjoyed the video games and rides at TI while their wives shopped at the fancy shops in the Venetian.

Just walking up and down the strip is free fun! You can get up close to the mini-Eiffel Tower, and there is a huge area of the strip called "New York, New York" complete with skyline, Statue of Liberty, you name it. There is also a great pub in New York, New York called The Irish Pub. It really is just like an Irish pub!

Tell him not to forget "Old Town" Las Vegas! This is the old section of classic hotels and casinos off the strip. Places like Binion's Horseshoe, the 4 Queens, etc. There is a free shuttle bus that takes you from the strip to old town. Oh! And live music stages are set up in the streets on Saturday nights that feature two or three live bands. This area is very family friendly. You won't see any weird people in old town like you would on the strip. The streets are closed off at a certain time for a cool laser light show and tons of food booths.

I can go on forever. I spent 4 days in Vegas and did not see one flashy, expensive show or gamble one penny. Hope he has fun. Where is he staying?

I was there a few years ago and we went on a rafting tour--not white water, but it was awesome.
We also did a 4 wheeler tour in the desert, that was neat too, but not as good as the rafting tour.

That does sound great!

At this point, all I know is that his plane landed safely, and he made it to the hotel. I'm waiting for him to wake up, and give me a call.

I'll second that! My friend thought it was going to be cheesy, but humored me and went with me........we had a blast. Took a slightly offensive picture of myself with the GWB statue to email to my super-conservative MIL........ LOL

There's a lot of outdoorsy stuff to do too, but I don't know if your dh will have time for all of that. My dad likes to go hiking, I wanna say the name of the park is Red Rocks, but I could be wrong. I rather enjoy a good game of blackjack, so I spent most of my time indoors! LOL

Hello, I live in Las Vegas. Here is what I recommend.

The consertatory at the Bellagio. Right now the flowers look like a Monet painting. Yes, on the fountains. If he has a car, driving out to Red Rock Canyon or Valley of the Fire (a little far but worth the drive). Going to the Palms to see the free lounge show on Friday and Saturday. No T and A just a good 90's and today cover band. Watching the valcano across from his hotel. Going to the MGM and seeing the Lions. Going to the Mirage and seeing the lions there. Walking around in the hotels just to see their construction. I like Mandalay Bay, New York, New York, Aladdin, Bellagio, and the Venetian (but he has already seen that).

All the above are free things to do.

Hope that helps.
