Grrr...

So, I've done all the research, agonized for hours and am about to place my order for diapers (nb prefolds and covers) when I find out that GMD does not ship out of the US. They recommend another website but that site didn't have the nb size prefolds. Is it possible that Canadians can't get nb prefolds!!??!! I mean, really!

So, does anyone know where a Canadian could buy nb prefolds?? I have some used infant prefolds but they're huge on my little 6lber. I was hoping to start CDing before she grew into them!

I'm so frustrated.

My favorite website for buying cloth diapering supplies is:

http://weebunzdiapers.com/index.php

They have preemie pf, both Chinese and Indian... and they ship internationally.

If you are near Calgary you could try Bobebe stores. I know they have nb bummies super brite covers and smaller sizes of prefolds. If you are closer to Edmonton, you could also check out Bosom Babies, they also have Bummis nb covers but they only have one size of prefolds... however they have about 3 different kinds of prefolds and the prefolds I just bought for dd2 are quite small fitting and not very bulky. though she is a bit bigger then your lo (was checking your blog) as she is now 9lbs.
Bosom Babies has a few different types of diapers too, great store. Would definetly recommend it and if you babywear into the store they give you a 10% discount.

I bought a Bummis diapering kit. Go to bummis.com and goto store locator. I found 6 or 7 stores in my area (I'm in Ontario) that carry the kits (both newborn (small) and mediums). You can see the kits on the website. I am very happy with my purchase. You get 36 prefolds and 6 Bummis Whisper wraps and a roll of disposable liners for about $130. The Whisper wraps are great!
And because you are buying them directly you save a lot of money on not paying for the shipping!!

1- buy infant prefolds from another company and trim them down to 11" or 11.5", to get the newborn dimensions. Serge or zigzag the edges well or have someone with a serger in your area do it.

2- Have someone in the U.S. you trust buy them from gmd and then ship them to you. Of course this will be pricier.

I hear you. GMD has a lot of good information and when I was researching cloth diapering I spent a lot of time on that site. I was so disappointed when I read they don't ship to Canada. I totally get your frustration. I've felt that way about CottonBabies for a long time too. Now shipping to Canada is the first thing I check when I'm on a website so I don't put a lot of time looking into things that I can't have.

A big boooo to companies that refuse to ship to Canada.

Yes, their explanation was pretty lame, too: "It's not very easy." Whatever. It's their prerogative, I'm just frustrated because I can't get what I want! Yes, I may be 2 years old.

GMD is loking into shipping to Canada. They are going to a UPS coference or something in February, so keep your fingers crossed!:

Thanks, I hadn't thought of just trimming down the giant prefolds i have. If worst comes to worst, that's a really good idea.

DH saw my thread and said it reminded him of a thread he posted this very week about not being able to get his lift kit for his jeep in canada. He managed to find someone who will bring it across the border for him, so we're going to see if they can do that with the diapers as well. Keeping my fingers crossed. This is silly. By the time I get it sorted out she'll be potty trained.

The ec store had them in December, but they seem to be out of stock right now. They'll probably get more in at some point, and I know they ship to Canada.

Check out this website: http://www.diapersandwipers.com. I can personally recommend her. I just talked to her husband, and he says that she has shipped to Canada before, but "it's tricky." He said to contact her, and she can talk to you. Don't know if that helps or not! Sorry. Her contact info is on the website.

I know. I can't wait, I want some brown edge for my chunky monkey soooo bad. I can't even find any second hand, they all sell like hot cakes!

I've even been trying to see if I could get my local diaper saleswoman to carry them....I just really really want them, and she's looking into new prefolds...

Jamtots is just a few minute drive from me and I never get tired of recommending them to people. Jennifer is lovely and they are so helpful. If they don't have what you want on their website give them a call, they've never let me down yet!

have you tried granitesmith's ebay store? i've bought from there numerous times over the course of diapering two kids - and just ordered some stuff from there for the new baby. not sure whether they ship to canada or not, but their prices are super low, quality is good, and their shipping charges to the US anyway are really reasonable. worth inquiring about, anyway.
